Hello All! We will be traveling from ORD to DOH then to DPS in a week. My menu options for pre selection is Cajun Spiced Chicken with BBQ sauce, Jumbo prawns or tofu and veggie dumplings. Is this correct? Has anyone had this on their pre selection and it was something different on the flight? Also, why is there only one selection when we have two 10 hour or more flights?

For the long flight to DPS there will be other things on the menu. The pre-selection is only for the “main” portion of whatever the main meal service is. For example if the main meal is lunch/dinner, you will be able to pre-select your main meal but once you get the menu you will have appetizers and desserts too, plus probably some “light” options such as afternoon tea, sliders or a breakfast service at the end. It depends on the flight/meals served but yes you will have a much more extensive menu once on board. The pre-select options are usually correct for the main dish.

that’s the chicken dish, it was nice and moist though lacking in presentation (this was taken before resumption of full dining), I would say if you don’t generally like BBQ sauce you may not like the sauce the drench the chicken in

Does anyone know how informed QR flight attendants are on-board regarding ingredients used in the dishes, and allergens?
I bought my parents some tickets in J as a surprise for our flight back from MNL-LHR in Feb. Hopefully they'll enjoy it, as they dread flying in economy at their age. My mum has a lot of intolerances though, and one allergy (crustaceans). Things like soy and wheat are a big no, and corn, tapioca and a few others are also problematic (immune-system related). She tends to end up getting something like steak/meat with vegetables or rice, as these obviously avoid those type of ingredients as long as the sauce doesn't have soy. Ordering a "gluten free" meal is often not a good idea, as they often include gluten substitutes like tapioca, and it still doesn't guarantee lack of soy either, so she's better off seeing what they have on the menu, and asking sometimes for it to be served without certain ingredients.
Just wondering what experience people with allergies/intolerance have with Qatar. I love their food in J, so I'm just hoping my mum will be able to enjoy it too!
I'll keep an eye out for the latest MNL-DOH-LHR menus on here as well; we're taking the 00.15 flight from MNL and landing in London around 13.00.

Best Ever Review Show reviews QR J. One of his less daring reviews (spoiler: he likes what it) but it's refreshing to see a review from a non-avgeek.
