Hello

I think it's up to us to react (the beneficiaries of this promotion). we must make a written request to Qatar Airways in order to request an extension of the validity of the duration of travel beyond 31/03/2021, as in the case of the class of teachers where they have as their travel deadline the 09/2021.

"Australia is unlikely to fully open its borders in 2021 even if most of its population gets vaccinated"

So even if there will be an extension of promotion I think we better change destination. However, I am not able to reach QR support team as they don't reply to Twitter dms (over 1 week) or I have to wait on hold.

Called them last year and they told me that the tickets can't be rebooked free of charge. That's why I prefer to contact them via Twitter.
Also pxm reported that they will be receiving a full refund.

I sent a message through QR's website last week and got a reply that I should call for more details on the offer.

Just called them today. The operator was convinced the offer would not be extended again. He was well educated in the other offers (teachers) as well. Of cause it is no guarantee it will not be extended but I did loose my hopes.

He confirmed if I cancel, the full value will be reimbursed.
He also stated that I can change the destination to any destination even outside the currently booked region.

One question I should have asked is if it can also be used on flights to DBX.

He stated we can change to outside the booking region? For free? I've been hanging onto these oman tickets forever but can't go in march if their mandatory quarantines don't clear up and would rather just change destinations now. But within the middle east there's nowhere else I'd go. Please get back to me if possible!

Correct. After he said that I took a look at the promo page and it also states in the terms and conditions “Tickets will be fully flexible, with an unlimited number of destination or date changes allowed without any fees.”

Has anybody successfully rebooked their flights free of charge to later in the year, beyond the original 'travel by' date?

And in addition, has anyone clarified what "inbound" means to Qatar that needs to be by March 31? Is that the return leg to origin?

'Inbound' in aviation terms means the return journey (which can be comprised of one or more sectors) of a return/open jaw booking.

I am in the same boat here and doubt that I can use these flight by March. I agree with Zakaria. I think it does not make sense to advertise that Qatar gave away all these free tickets when in fact they limited the use of these tickets to only during the pandemic! We need to do something about this... would love to hear ideas on how we can bring attention to this issue - whether through social networking posts or any other thoughts. Happy to take the lead on setting up a petition - please reply to this message if you would be interested in joining me to voice your disappointment with this promotion.

Totally agree. I have written to QR without any results.
The majority of the winnaars have not been able to use this I guess so it would be crazy for them not to extend it.
I was thinking writing to some of the media that gave QR the credits for this offer because I believe they should also get the same amount of attention if they do not extend and leave the “Heroes” with nothing. I think QR should have taken the state of Qatars travel quarantaine guidelines as a backbone and should say this offer remains open 4 months after Qatar the majority of visitors in without quarantine. At the moment 99% (estimate) of the nations are not even allowed in Qatar without going into quarantine.
Happy to hear others opinions (to strengthen our position).

I scheduled my flight for third week of march returning through April 3rd. Have had multiple agents tell me no further expansion of date, so I gave up trying and am trying to figure out if they'll at least let me go somewhere outside of my region (but holding off of rebooking from Oman to somewhere else until later in feb). Would be glad to join you but I doubt anything happens.

would be glad to join in but at this point they've told multiple people no - I think after their prior prolonged date they let this die. Although Ill definitely post here if they let me do anything.

I gave up on monday. Cancelled my tickets, was told I'll have a refund for the taxes paid. (Let's see how long that will take)
No chance we can use the tickets. First of all quite difficult to find an open destination, on top of that my mrs. "the medical worker" have no possibility to leave her job in the middle of the pandemic.
