It has never been free to change flight online after booking with promo code. Last week I tried to change date to 2021 via Twitter support since Australia won't open its borders and was told again that it is not possible as per the T&C last day is 10th of Dec 2020.

Does anybody know if it is possible to change destination for free?

It should be free since they are fully flex tickets.

You're right. Change is free. It's just that you pay the fare difference which is 2000€ for us.

you are looking at flights when economy flexi isn’t available. If you find flights with economy flexi there should not be any fare diffrence. Keep searching.

Yes, call and change for free to whatever destination you’d like (if the fare class is available of course). I called after the 14 day waiting period to change destination. And based on covid guidelines I might as well have to change again.

lol, from where to where? Did you ask if they extend after 10 of december maybe?

I didn’t ask because the call center people don’t know anything. I’ll keep an eye at how the situation evolves and might change it again to one of the countries who will allow me in.

I asked via WhatsApp yesterday as our flights have been still confirmed but QR stated they won’t be operated.

QR refused to extend (as expected) beyond 10/12/2020 and insisted on rebooking to different date or destination for free.

Today they cancelled the flights and the email is offering 4 options:

„Hold on to your ticket : Keep your ticket open and use it when you are ready with our extended 2 years ticket validity, this applies for fully unutilized tickets. A maximum extended validity of twelve months applies for partially used tickets. For any changes on or after 01 January 2021 ticket fare rules shall apply.

Exchange for future travel : You can exchange your ticket for a future travel voucher with 10% additional value. Vouchers are now valid for two years from the date of voucher issuance.We will issue the travel voucher within 48 hours.
Swap for Qmiles : Swap your ticket for Qmiles and redeem them towards reward flights, extra baggage or cabin upgrades when the time is right. For every 1 USD, you will earn 100 Qmiles that are valid for at least three years.
Refund your ticket : We will refund your ticket to the original form of payment. It may take up to 30 days to process your refund request.“

Curious if option 1 would extend the validity...
will need to look into this during the next days.
Has anybody from here been in the same situation with these gifted tickets and some experience?

Just wanted a clarification on option 1.When we use to the ticket will we be paying just the taxes like earlier or will we have to pay the normal fare?

Option 1 is what I am aiming for as well. I dont see an issue on them not living up to it. You will not need to pay anything as they cancelled.

The rules in option 1 say that changes post jan1 fare rules will be applicable

If you look at how QR writes the T&C's they use the following terms:
"for tickets issued on/before/after"
"for travel on/before/after"
"changes on/before/after"

In this case you should be able to change before 2021 for travel in 2021/2022 without fare rules applying. But changing again in 2021 might not be possible unless it is involuntary.

I think you will struggle to get option 1 as this is part of their book with confidence offer to store the monetary value of a ticket for future use.

The issue I suspect you have is that there is no monetary value against your ticket if booked as a beneficiary of this offer.

This is my suspicion as well. At best, monetary value means whatever amount was actually paid for taxes/fees.
