But the silo structure of the airline's management divisions don't encourage dialogue, and (heaven forbid!) anything that questions policy - that would conflict with the Emperor's News Clothes environment they all work in..
You have a point but it assumes (a) they know the policy is legally wrong and (b) are willing to create waves by asking the policy to be confirmed by the legal department. If your boss tells you that's the policy, not a lot you can do about it unless you want to go over their head. And for what benefit to the individual?

I've been trying to reach QR to get an answer but so far haven't gotten through to their call lines today.

Basically, I have a ticket that cost 7000 USD in total. If that means I'd get $7700 with the voucher, I may consider it. But I thought I read somewhere that the "base fare" was refunded in voucher form. There is a $500 difference in the "fare price" and "total price" on my receipt (taxes and fees). If I won't even get the full $7000 back as a voucher (plus even less as the 10%), it might not be worth it for me to have to worry about using the voucher.

Does that make sense? Anyone have experience with the vouchers? Thanks!
If a ticket is converted into an EMD
1. Yes
2. 10% of (base fare + YQ)

A few questions about a date change only as I think the FT might respond before I get of "holding" on the phone.

1. I'm trying to change the date of my return flight -ATH-DOH-SEA from August 5 to August 6. There is no fare difference, but a voluntary date change is accepted correct without payment?

2. If this is possible, QR has added a second return option ATH-DOH. The one I'm booked on leaves at 1:30 with a 15 hour layover, but wide body 787 and . the second option they added leaves at 19:35 but is an A320. I see there are two versions of 320 on Seat Guru. One standard US business class semi recline and another version that is a flatbed that was typically used on 787-900 LAX-DOH which I found to be decent seats. Is there any way to tell which version it would be? both show 2:2 arrangment for rows 1-3. Thanks in advance.

1. Yes this is correct
2. You can look at the economy cabin. The flat bed A320 has fewer rows (goes to row 28 only IIRC). ATH usually gets the flatbed A320 which are similar to their A330
Not sure what you mean by 787-900 that goes to LAX??

Thanks for the tip. The A320 scheduled has 30 rows which is longer than that others so perhaps night lie flat.

For the 787-900, I misspoke was thinking of the old 777-200/300LR on the old LAX-DOH route. I'm assuming these are the style of seats if they are on that plane.

Also a reminder that QR is known for last minute aircraft changes, although the seat map could show an A320 with recliner seats that might change multiple times until August.

Thanks! Before I saw your reply though I finally got through to the call center. The lady told me that it would only be the ticket price and not all the fees & taxes. Ugh. She didn't sound confident though. She said she could cancel for me but not tell me the amount. I would need to email customer service for the calculations. (This ticket was booked over the phone so it didn't work to check the amount online under "cancel ticket.") I decided not to mess with it and just canceled for cash.

On a positive note, another cancellation that I was able to do online was credited to my card only a few days later. So impressed!

My flight got cancelled and QR rebooked me with a 18h 25min connection in DOH, no thanks, when going to mmb I can either press to acknowledge the change or request a refund, when pressing refund it sends me to some "help" page and not to anything remotely close a refund page, how can I process the refund online? I canŽt find any other links to request a refund..? I tried calling but gave up after holding for a good while.
Any tips?

You have to call in or visit a ticketing office in order to get a refund under the EOC policy as the refund penalty has to be manually waived by a ticketing specialist.

cr*p, I was really hoping that this wouldnŽt be the answer to my question, but I was afraid it will be since the webpage linked me to the page with phone numbers.
Oh well, IŽll guess IŽll just leave my phone on speaker and hope it wonŽt take too many hours to get through.

i had a very very minimal schedule change (literally 10 minutes) and was wondering if this qualified for a involuntary schedule change and therefore a refund?

flights are now about 50% cheaper than they were when i booked, so TBH hoping i can get a refund and re book. are the odds of that happening strikingly low?

You don't need an involuntary change to cancel your ticket for a full refund. The EoC policy allows this regardless if the cancellation is involuntary/voluntary.
Just cancel your ticket and purchase a new one for the 50% cheaper price.

By the way, a 10 minute schedule change does not count as an involuntary change. The schedule change must be minimum 2 hours.

It actually was a very plesant surprise, I was waiting for only about 15 minutes and got excellent service from a very polite and correct gentleman who I am guessing was of Indian heritage, at least judging from the accent. He gave me several options to rebook to other dates and also infromed that my original flight might be reinstated if the situation becomes better closer to my departure date, I kindly declined telling him this trip was originally suppose to take place in may 2020 and that I was not looking forward to more changes or vouchers at this time. He had full understanding and said he will start the refund process at once and that money should be on my account in 6-8 days maybe a bit longer depending how much refunds are due at this time.
How has the timetable with refunds been lately? has 6-8 days schedule been held or has it stretched in to longer waits?
