EC261 compensation
A friend was delayed on a Qatar flight, booked via BA, which caused a missed connection. I believe EC261 is due
Qatar have initially rejected the compensation, claiming extraordinary circumstances. Does anyone have any further information on this flight or access to flight stats to check what caused the delay to provide some evidence for her?
Flight was QR006 on 7th October 2019
Thanks

It seems unusual that a 19 minute delay would be extraordinary hence why I wanted to help her out with some wise views from this forum!

Yes, 50 minute connection, all on one ticket. Qatar paid for a hotel etc. for the delay but rejected EC261 as extraordinary. Bott & Co is an option but it feels like Qatar should have to provide evidence it is extraordinary rather than use a middle-man

The burden of proof is on Qatar, but they don't need to demonstrate that until you take them to court. Until then they can just keep denying your claim as extraordinary without providing any evidence. The benefit of the middle men is they can apply pressure without having to go down the court route.

you dont actually have to use Bott and Co- put in fake email addy and it will tell you if they think you have a right to eu261 Personally i wouldnt have liked such a short connection, esp if no following flight till the next day
