Possible standby earlier flight
I know the answer is probably no and also based on past experience but wanted to see whether anyone had any luck.
have a transit that is 8 hours long and wanted to get on an earlier flight.
will be hand luggage only. However booked in R class so due to capacity control and marry segment logic they of course didn’t offer me the best connection.
however I can see the earlier flights are pretty empty
at the al safa lounge will they tend to be able to “bend” the rules more and allow changes?
or just forget it and sleep and eat away at the AS?

No. It won't hurt to ask just in case there is the rare chance the your onward flight is overbooked and your change assists them operationally, but otherwise expect the fare rules to be implemented in full.
Worth arriving at check in for earlier flight ?
Standby for an earlier flight on previous day?
Same day standby for an earlier flight
