Rollover QPoints

Hello,

I recently re-qualify to be Silver member for another year with Qatar Airways. Before end of my 2018/19 Silver membership I earned 60 Qpoints which are counting towards Gold status. Currently I need to earn 240 Qpoints to be Gold. However I need to earn 135 Qpoints to be Silver for another year (2020/21). My question is if would this 60 Qpoints that I earned before end of 2018/19 Silver membership count towards renewal for 2020/21? Because according to my calculation (135 - 60) I would need another 75 Qpoints to remain Silver.

Thank you

To get a new status level, you simply need to earn the required Qpoints within a year at any random day.
To clarify: there is no 18/19, 19/20 and so on. If you earned 60 Qpoints and you earn another 180 240 within less than a year from the day where you earned the first of those 60, you will get gold tier, regardless of when you earned your silver tier.
For renewal it's different as you need to earn the required Qpoints within 1 year after the the day you got that status level (or the last time it got renewed respectively).

So I need to earn 135 QPoints to renew Silver tier from first day of new tier year? Because on my profile I can see something like this: Qpoints: 60, To renew Silver: 135, To upgrade to Gold: 240.

OP needs 300 Qpoints to reach Gold (60+240). (it's 150 for Silver and 600 for Platinum)

More exactly renewal can be calculated on the past 12 months (135 Qpoints for Silver, 270 for Gold or 540 for Platinum) or on the past 24 months (270 for Silver, 540 for Gold or 1080 for Platinum).
It's not clear how many Qpoints OP earn during each year. I assume he earned only 60 Qpoints during his 2018-2019 "year" and renewed Silver thanx to the 24 months rule and to previously Qpoints accumulated during his 2017-2018 "year". As he only earned 60 Points during the past "year", he needs 135 Qpoints to renew Silver (with the 12 months rule and not with the 24 months rule which would require 270-60=210 Qpoints) or he can reach Gold if he earns (300-60=) 240 Qpoints, but it should be less than 12 months after he earned the 60 actual Qpoints.
Beside Qpoints earned, to reach or renew a status, QR rules also require a certain amount of QR flights (= marketed and operated by QR) or Qpoints earned on QR flights to be credited to the QRPC account.

Yes you are right, he probably needs these 300 Qpoints, I was wrongly thinking of tier renewal requirements. I didn't intend to go too much into detail about his particular case though, my key point was that there are no fixed periods like many other FFPs have.

Yeah that profile view is not too reliable. If you earned these 60 Qpoints after you got silver status (or after the last time you got it renewed), you don't need to earn another 135 Qpoints to renew it. As Matt4 correctly pointed out, unless you got some special offer (unlikely), you need to earn 300 Qpoints to get gold status, so another 240 on top of those 60 (I was wrongly thinking of the 240 one needs to renew gold after earning it for the first time, which doesn't to apply to you). The period in which you need to earn these 240 is however unrelated to your silver tier renewal period but just based on the days where you earned these Qpoints.
It's actually a pretty simple system, they just make it seem complicated by providing wrong or misleading information.

Just for the record, you need to earn 150 Qpoints get silver, 300 for gold, 600 for platinum in a year starting at any day, regardless of previous tier levels. To renew status, you basically get 10% discount, so 135/270/540 Qpoints. You also get the same 10% discount based on a 2 year period, so you can also renew your status if you earned 270/540/1080 Qpoints within 2 years after the day you got the tier level (first time or renewed) in question.

Now I am confused, I will try to explain it again.
In year 2018 / 2019 I needed 25 Qpoints to remain Silver. Year 18/19 finished for me on 10.02.19. On 09.02.19 I flew from Europe to Asia in J and I got 60 Qpoints. This 60 Qpoints where taken away from Gold Tier Qpoints Requierment (from 300 to 240). But they didn't for Silver (they are still 135 not 75 or 100).

I ask the same question also Qatar Privilege Club Support and I am waiting for their answer. I could't find if there are even Qpoints rollover possible but my dashboard display that I have 60 Qpoints.

Best Regards

I am not sure if I am following you. I assume that you got silver on 2018-02-11 which was valid until 2019-02-10. Now I assume that you got your silver tier renewed on 2019-02-19 and you now need to earn another 135 Qpoints by 2020-02-10, starting from 2019-02-11, to keep your status. Since you earned those 60 points before that, they don't count towards it (disregarding the 2 year rule, which is another matter).
But keep in mind what I tried to convey earlier, QRPC doesn't know these kind of years, not even on a per customer basis (unlike BAEC for example). The only annual periods they use are within one tier level and only as long as you maintain that tier. These 60 points count towards earning gold tier for a full year after they were earned, so if you earn another 240 by 2020-02-08, you will get gold, regardless of any silver renewal periods. In that case, you will get gold on the very day they credit the 300th point, and your gold requalification period will be 1 year after that day.
