Hi guys,

My cousin wants to know if Al Sawfa will also charge children as well as toddlers who are ten and two for the AS entry.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, Al Safwa is closed until further notice.
However, the Al Mourjan Lounge is open.

When they do reopen, what was the policy regarding people traveling on international J tickets? Could you still pay to get in and have access to the bedrooms? I have an 8.5 hour layover next year on the way to LAX and wouldn’t mind sleeping there.

600 QAR for passengers booked in J (award or cash bookings) for 8 hours of access. It was also added that QRPC Platinum members in J would have access. Upgraded tickets Y to J (miles, cash, Q credits) were ineligible to buy Al Safwa access.

I flew them ORD-DOH-BLR with about a 4 hour connection. When I paid the money and was admitted to Al-Safwa, the agent at the front politely said “just so you know you have a four hour time limit in the lounge.” To which I replied I would only use three hours anyway, and she said okay.

So I had wondered how strictly “time limits” are enforced if they even exist.

So I asked different QR staff today “Can I pay for Al Safwa access once it reopens (best case scenario is end of June) when I book an R (classic) fare?”
And one staff member stood up from behind her desk to solemnly state “yes”.

If the staff member gave you correct information, this is pretty good news!

I wonder if they will then charge both the AM fee to get basic lounge access and the AS fee to upgrade it? I would not be surprised...

I believe the answer is no. See the chart in the wiki here:
QR unbundles business class with new R fares
