Anyone got a sense of what is on offer in terms of champagne, and red and white wines, in Al Safwa currently?

Well YMMV but my friend and I found the Atar Ros very good on board, fad much better than Drappier or Pommery.
In CDG lounge we were served Billecart.

This seems to be the same set from September. It is route dependent.
I was suprised by the Miolo, Brazillian red wine. It was to my taste, a very good wine. My first trying a Brazillian red wine even though I've been to Brazil a couple of time.

Cheers!

I found the Pommery too sweet

the Philipponnat in the AS was interesting but the Grand Dame better, there was a gewurztraminer that I thought was incredibly tasty

I found the new Pink champagne to be drinkable. Much better than the previous offering.

I agree IMHO a better offering for my taste buds. But a decline from a few years ago.

Exactly @ the Drappier. Don't get me wrong it's not a Laurent Perrier but it I found it drinkable. The Drappier was so bad I switched to the refreshing non alcoholic Mint and Lime drink.

Champagne lallier and Atair Rose. Both are passable but a distinct downgrade if you commenced on the bollinger in the Bangkok lounge!

Don't underestimate Lallier, it's vile.

After a taste, pre-takeoff, I switched to sparking water till they opened the full bar. From previous experience, Atair is no better, IMHO. Pity as we'd started off on a high at the CDG lounge. The only drinkable wine, last week, the Chateau Larrivet Haut, Brion Pessac-Leognan 2011, ran out before the end of the flight; guess several people zeroed in on it.

Heading out now n my first QR flight in business clsss on Monday, working in the wine trade im Intrigued by the wine choices. Pommery is pretty average for Business Class fizz I reckon. But Billecart would be good. Some pretty impressive Bordeaux though, seeing the likes of Batailley 2012 and Brane Cantenac 2012 cropping up which are far pricier than most of the Champers ive seen. Easy to get over Champagme though. Overrated stuff.
