Interlining Question...

Hello,

I'm under the understanding that Qatar now interline bags onto BA flights, even on a separate ticket.

I'll be departing Sydney travelling to Stockholm via Doha. Then 3 hrs later travelling on BA from Stockholm to London.

If interlining my bag - do QR give me the BA boarding pass in Sydney? Do they effectively check in for me?

If not, do they just send the bag and I have to check in separately? If that's the case, I won't be able to until Doha as that's then 24hrs before the flight. Is there then anywhere to pick up a boarding pass, if I have difficulty on the app, maybe at Stockholm, without leaving air side?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure of the 'official' status, but I had the same scenario in January and it took a bit of persuading but I did manage to get the check-in supervisor to do exactly this. I did get the BA boarding pass at the time too from memory, despite it being more than 24 hours from check-in - but can't be 100% sure on that. Bag definitely made it all the way through

It is their policy, but many times you have to argue for it. Be armed and prepared. I always carry a printout from their website that states that check thru, and an email from QR customer service that states the same. I usually have to ask for the QR supervisor at outstations. The checkin agents are rarely QR staff and must know policies for several airlines.

Whenever I have had my luggage checked thru, I've ALWAYS gotten boarding passes for all segments regardless of the carrier.

Hello,

I don't want to create new topic, so ask my question here...

I've booked WAW-DOH-SIN QR award flight. Additionally, I plan to book separate positioning flight GDN-WAW on LO. It's not OW carrier but as far as I know, both airlines have some kind of agreement regarding bringing passengers by LO from Polish regional airports to Warsaw, for QR flights to DOH (it's possible to book on QR's website for example GDN-WAW-DOH on one ticket). Considering such possible agreement, do you think it'll be possible to interline my bags from LO flight from GDN to WAW onto my QR flight from WAW to DOH? Both flights will be the same day (if it makes any difference).

It's difficult enough to get them to interline to OW on separate tickets, I would rate your chances very low as it isn't a stated benefit.

thanks for your answer. Well, I'm afraid so... I'll try to get information directly from Polish customer service of QR.

Interlining across separate tickets (actually, separate PNRs) is wholly at the discretion of the first airline flown (subject to having an interline agreement in general). In this case, you need to confirm with LOT.

(Just for anyone else's future reference, the main interlining thread is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qata...2017-a-17.html)

In fact, based on my experience, it also based on the contracted ground staff (if it is not the airline hub) mood...

For example, the manchester agent refuse to interline my QR, MH separate ticket. In Changi, the ground staff only willing to interline two separate MH ticket if each flight is not more than 12 hours apart (or depart before noon next day).

For some airport, the ground agent would ask my final destination, and some time they directly offer if I wish to directly check my bag until my final destination even if separate ticket.

Not sure the rationale for the Manchester refusal, but it would seem that airline policy dictates otherwise: see Schwann's response in the main interlining thread.

For MH, every airline will have a specific transit window for which they will allow checking bags through (even on single tickets), though I am somewhat surprised about the 12hr thing... was that on the same day?

Ya, I read that before which was the reason I request for interline when check in over there. But I believe is the ground staff being boned head. However, even it is not interline still no pose any inconvenient on my trip since I had to send my wife off for a taxi before I continue my last segment of flight.

Just I the main part that I was not understand was that I am OWE, so the ground staff tag my luggage for express tag, then did not tag my wife luggage for express tag even we were check in together. So it becomes no point for my luggage to appear in carousel first...
