January Aircraft Swap DOH PEN
In the past few days or so, my January flights DOH PEN DOH have been changed from A330 to B787. I had booked a centre seat for uninterrupted direct aisle access in the 2-2-2 configuration. Now I can change to a window in the 1-2-1 layout.
It doesn’t appear that the aircraft type has yet propagated to the BA codeshare flight numbers. Check your seat maps to see if you have been moved. Those that are travelling in pairs no longer have the window-aisle option. Only the centre seats are together and there are just six pairs vs the eight on the A330.
Personally I love this change of aircraft, but I know that many who are travelling together prefer the room and layout of the older seats.

They've switched from A330 to B787 every month so far since at least October. Pretty good chance yours will for February too

Just finished my Satay fare trip. A few tips for those going to PEN:
- Once you arrive at PEN, the free WiFi is crap in the arrivals area, especially if you want to order a GRAB car. Head up to the Departures level where the wifi is good and then head back down once you're booked. Expressly tell the driver where you wanna be picked up (or they'll message you in app) as there are three possible pick up points the drivers could pick up at depending which way the wind is blowing. For reference, it should be 22-27ish MYR each way to Georgetown using GRAB, an absolute bargain.
- Leave plenty of time on the return QR851 for traffic, as its pretty awful in PEN. It took me over an hour to get to the airport. In contrast, after the outbound it only took 30 minutes ish.
- Anyone with the awkward wait between the checkout of their hotel and the flight, may I suggest a "day room" at the Tune hotel. It's not luxurious but the overnight rate (not sure if they offer an actual day rate) was like £12, and they offer free early checkin if you book direct. I checked in at like 1200 and left a 1715. Better than waiting around getting sweaty, plus the shower was good.
If I can think of anything else I'll post it here.

While it may be cheap, it is frequented by prostitutes and drug dealers - as well as many perfectly normal guests!

In all seriousness, as someone who is conscientious about personal security, I didn't feel it was too bad... I hadn't stayed in PEN the previous night so it was an okay and affordable way of chilling for a few hours before the flight.
But your comments are duly noted, I had no idea!

To be honest I didn't really spend much time there on this trip, but I went last year and enjoyed it. Lots of good food and the street art is interesting to see. Do you have long there?

I had planned on going to Georgetown and wandering around for a few hours or hitting the beach in Batu Ferringhi for the day and showering in the lounge before my flight to DOH (knowing that it would be difficult to shower in DOH given how busy the showers get from ~11pm onwards). I based this plan on looking at the oneworld lounge website where they indicate that the lounge has a shower, but I just happened to look at the Plaza Premium site and they don't mention anything about showers.
I assume the oneworld website is wrong and that there aren't any showers - can anyone help confirm? If there aren't any showers it messes up my plans somewhat.
