01April2018 — Drappier Rose replaces Landon

As far as I can tell, this is the April Rose bubbles selection on ULH sectors. Apologies if this has been noted elsewhere.
Edit: Lanson, obviously. Thank you iOS autocorrect.

Ugh. I would never have guessed that QR could send the champagne/rosé quality even lower than it was....

lost_in_translation Apr 15, 2018 2:04 am

Oh no :(

kl1987 Apr 15, 2018 2:26 am

I hope they aren't bringing back the Jacquart Brut/Drappier Rosé combo again :(

Flying AMS - JNB on Wednesday and will report back then.

Yes that was a definite low point.

Perhaps like the old pyjamas and Armani kits, they've found a few cases of the old stuff at the back of the warehouse and are just using it up...

I much preferred the Jacquart to Lanson Brut when that was around, so I wouldn't mind if they brought that back. The combo of Lanson Brut and Drappier Rosé is pretty horrendous though - I generally prefer rosé on flights (with the obvious exception of when in F!) but just couldn't bring myself to drink the Drappier, same category as BA's Castelnau which just tastes horrendous in a cabin environment to me.

Oh no :(

I wasn't a fan of the Lanson rosé, but it was at least drinkable (unlike the Drappier)... Sad to see this.

Yuck, following Air Canada’s champagne house.

Air Canada is now serving Laurent Perrier on all their international business class routes.

I always thought the Lanson Rose was good and also the original Lanson too. Certainy beats the Champagne in the BA Club lounges!

The strange one i found is in QR Business lounge they have Johnny Walker Black but in the air they dont offer it at all??

Interesting. The website still says they serve Drappier https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ess-class.html

Makes me yearn for the good old days (3-4 years ago) when I single-handedly managed to polish off a whole bottle of Krug and half a bottle of Chateay d’Yquem flying QR CAI DOH F - in what was just a two and a half hour flight. The value of the alcohol was more than the cost of the ticket!

NoY Apr 15, 2018 8:12 pm

I don’t know what the Drappier Rose tastes like but I found the Lanson Rose to be totally undrinkable swill  Surely it cannot be that bad ;)

I expect you slept well after that!

No they serve Laurent Perrier Champagne, as indicated in the food and beverage section:
https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...e-service.html

Yesterday on QR 180 (OSL-DOH) was indeed Drappier Rose (which were run out after 3 hours) but on QR 908 (DOH-SYD) was still Lanson Rose.

cgtechuk Apr 22, 2018 2:06 am

Was the Drappier on HEL to DOH 19/4 which they ran out of after 30 mins. Personally I found it very dry.

Was the Lanson 20/4 DOH to BKK

That's because the change was effective for flights on and after April 17. I flew on April 18 and can confirm it was Laurent Perrier. If you go back to the same webpage that you quoted, you will now see it has been updated and says LP. Your post was April 15 and I guess they did not want to change their website until the 17th.

Well i personally like the Drappier better than the lanson rose - matter of taste i guess - the Lanson Rose was pretty much the worst rose champagne they had so far and I am flying Qatar for more than 10 years. I still remember the older times with Bollinger Rose which suited me the best.

The Pol Roger Brut Rosé Vintage 2004 was 'peak QR J champagne' to me :( (ignoring Krug, of course)

vbh812 Apr 26, 2018 1:50 am

Drappier Rosé and Lanson Brut on DOH-JFK-DOH (April 13/20); needless to say, I stayed away from champagne on both legs. Luckily, the AA flagship lounge at JFK serves Taittinger

HpW1981 Apr 26, 2018 12:50 pm

Drappier Rosé and Lanson Brut also served on QR68 FRA-DOH yesterday. Same on QR664 DOH-CMB

soy Jul 13, 2018 11:45 am

Pommery Brut and Drappier Rose onboard currently. No sign of Lanson except in the lounge

clubeurope Jul 14, 2018 6:04 am

EDI-DOH-SIN, both legs had Pommery Royal Brut NV and Drappier Rose NV, this was last month.

I agree, I didn't like Lanson Rose at all, and felt than Drappier is better than the Lanson Rose. I couldn't exactly say the same about Pommery and Lanson though, I didn't quite like the Pommery as much as the Lanson. Still, I miss the Billecart-Salmon.

I happen to agree with you. Which makes this even funnier! Lanson Rosé is now the rosé served onboard in BA F cabins. Link.

everybodyreach Aug 11, 2018 8:44 pm

I had the Drappier Rose on the Oslo-Doha leg. Better than Lanson Rose I thought.

clubeurope Aug 11, 2018 11:22 pm

I think we can mostly agree that the change to Drappier is an upgrade (thankfully)
