Aviação - Voo da Qatar para o Rio é adiado e ainda não tem data - Notícia - Turismo

Google translator: Despite information about the start of Qatar Airways' Santiago-Rio-Doha flight to early 2018, the company informs that the operation is delayed due to the availability of aircraft, with no scheduled start date. The company intends to use the A350 in the connection, in partnership with Latam Airlines, but it still does not have the plane available.
Qatar Airways says however that the flight is confirmed and a date will be announced as soon as the aircraft issue is resolved. The company from Qatar flies daily from Sao Paulo to Doha, with extension to Buenos Aires.

What about Accra? I cannot see any mentioning anywhere but flight attendants confirmed and its even in their on board magazine?

essentially, any new/announced flight that would need to cross Saudi will not be happening anytime soon. (In addition to SFO/LAS).

The following should be loaded over the next week or so:
HTY 3x/week A320 eff 04APR18
JMK 4x/week A320 eff 28MAY18
AGP 4x/week B788 eff 04JUN18
BJV 2x/week A320 eff 12JUN18
AYT 2x/week A320 eff 13JUN18
LIS 4x/week B788 eff 01SEP18

Turkish beach destinations haven't been previously announced... getting near the bottom of the barrel me thinks.

No money to be made from A320s sitting on the ground in Doha. Antalya is one of Turkey's major cities, with the population size in the metropolitan area comparable to the whole of Qatar.

JMK. Wow!!

I'mm a great fan of spelling out destinations with obscure IATA codes

HTY is Iskenderun, Turkey's very own Alexandria
BJV is Bodrum
AYT is of course Antalya - it's a major airport with something like 25 million passengers a year (OK, lot's of them carried on charter flights)
JMK is Mykonos, an odd choice. Perhaps al Baker has a holiday home there ....

It's about time Lisbon was on the network.

Still makes more sense than Cardiff. I could see a couple Qatari flying to Antalya as a short get-away and plenty of Turks travelling to all parts of the world on QR. I'm not sure if it's going to attract huge numbers of connecting passengers from other parts of the world.

THAT of course is the crunch. Turkey attracts very large numbers of Gulf tourists, and Antalya province is a major world tourism destination. But the wider Gulf market is now cut off from Qatar....

But it's silly of us to second-guess these things. Qatar may be desperate to find short-haul destinations to deploy it's aircraft, but I'm sure its network planners have access to MIDT-type data. This may have identified a rich stream of demand we are unaware of. There again they might be throwing darts at a map

Close. We were told a member of the ruling family visited and liked it and said we need to fly there. Same for AGP.

Have these been announced officially before?

Mykonos is also becoming very popular with the Chinese and Far East Asian locals, so it's a sensible addition in my view.

AGP and LIS were announced in a package a few months back, but no official start dates.

Definitely. I go to Mykonos 2-3 times every summer, and on the Athens-Mykonos domestic flight on Aegean I see dozens of pax connecting from the Doha flights. I predict these flights will be sold out.
