AGP is 'subject to government approval' -- any idea how long this generally takes? Looking to fly this route a few days after launch.

Now they fly literally everywhere, (reminds me of Turkish!!!), yet KIX and the rest of Japan aside of NRT/HND, are still being held out. I don't care about Al Baker complaints about time slots, there's no way in hell KIX would be less profitable than Hatay, Luxembourg, Malta... and pretty much more than half of QR routes.

You can fly to the announced destinations with an A320. Same can't be said about KIX. Moreover, IIRC they did fly to KIX. Seems that it wasn't profitable.

Nice to see the potential for a couple of additional ex-EU starting points on QR. Roll on the opening offers...(casts mind back to wonderful double of PSA-AKL at GBP1600 for two.)

I think MLA will be a good one if it gets the go ahead price-wise but it's not very convenient.

Fair enough, but re: the rest of the announced destination it seems to have been a "let's draw a 4,000 mi circle around DOH and pick potentially profitable destination we're not already flying to". They have to fly those A320s somewhere. Considering they wet leased some of them to BA during BA strikes, I doubt they are currently utilised to their fullest extend.

Aircraft ownership costs and the costs of their crew are largely the same whether the aircraft are flying or parked. Flying them simply adds a whole raft of eye-watering operating costs. Cardiff et al are unlikely to generate sufficient revenue even to cover these operating costs, never mind the costs of equipment ownership and the fixed costs of associated crew.

A carrier financed along more traditional lines, facing the existential crisis of QR, would have adopted a new business plan, and rationalised its fleet, network and workforce accordingly. But QR is different.

Hi,
Is QR still planning on launching flights to Málaga in June? I got this email the other day but I am currently searching nonstop flights AGP-DOH for June / July and the first flight I can see is on June 13th. Can we assume this is the actual date or will it be pushed back further? (I think the original launch date was supposed to be June 4th).

Redeem and save up to 50%
Redeem an award ticket from now until 9 May 2018 to and from Malaga* using the promo code AGP2018 and receive a 50% discount for flights between 4 June and 5 August 2018.

Not sure this has already been posted but baker said this recently.

Under what it terms its "expedited expansion plans", Qatar Airways is to serve a host of other new destinations. These, listed by Al Baker during ITB, include Estonian capital Tallinn, Maltese capital Valletta, Cebu and Davao in the Philippines, Langkawi in Malaysia, Da Nang in Vietnam, Bodrum and Antalya in Turkey, Mykonos in Greece, and Malaga in Spain.

Al Baker also indicated that the airline would programme a new Lisbon service "once we get the slot that we have requested", and that there were plans for an additional Scandinavian destination which he was unprepared to name.

GOT, perhaps? A further Scandinavian destination is a bit of a strange choice, I'd say.

I would assume it's GOT but ARR is also a possibility.

At least one of Baltic capitals and/or Minsk would make sense to me. EY flights to MSQ have very decent loads, which is not surprising given the closest airports served by ME3 are WAW (shengen visa required), KBP with its current political problems and MOW airports, 800 km away
