While I wouldn't say it's a bad connecting airport some would find the amount of bus gates for widebodies, the long walks from gates to reclear security and then back to a connecting gate less than ideal.

Just flew SIN-DOH-JFK yesterday/this morning. I originally had 2 hours 15 mins between flights, but inbound flight was delayed. Because of this, it looks like they allowed transiting passengers back into the departures area without the initial security screening (for my JFK-DOH-SIN leg, I had to go through this initial screening). However, there was still the security screening at the gate where I was asked for my boarding pass about 4x. Things moved fairly quickly though, there were a lot of staff trying to move things along. I didn't have any large electronics but was asked about a shoe horn that I had (I guess the insides were metal and it looked like a metal spoon - they let me keep it ). I don't think the security screening was any different than US TSA screens, other than they were very polite.

Also, for flights with super tight connections, there were grounds staff holding up signs for those flights, and I assume escorting passengers to be expedited.

Not any worse than arriving internationally on AA and connecting to AA domestic at DFW, IMO.

A HUUUUUGE and important difference, IMO.

A pig with lipstick is no better than a regular pig.
OTOH the giant teddy bear is a nice touch.

I also don't recall taking off my shoes during screening for US flights. Also, they use regular walk through metal detectors rather than the ubiquitous whole body imaging scanners at US airports.

Flying QR JFK - DOH - CGK with a 2 hr 20 minute stop at DOH in July... Does the flight from DOH to Jakarta usually have the gate-area security check? I am hoping to have a chance to buy some duty-free booze during the layover; having two separate security checks could decrease the shopping time.

Good to know! Plenty of duty-free shopping and maybe a snack of some Middle-Eastern food.
