HKG: Switch from 787 to 777-300ER?
Apologies if this has been discussed in another thread. A search didn't show it, but I admit I'm using my phone due to work firewall. Also I am aware of the "don't book for specific equipment" rule of thumb. 😃
Looking at LHR-DOH-HKG leaving 6 Oct and returning 23 Oct. Google Flight prices the routing showing the 787 on DOH-HKG leg QR 816. Flightaware, etc, confirm that this is the aircraft currently being flown on that route.
However the QR booking site shows all routes between DOH and HKG being operated by the 777-300ER, presumably with the older layout. Not horrible but not my first choice.
Dummy searches for this month show the 787. So it appears they are indeed planning a switch. But I thought I'd confirm and manage my own expectations before booking. Thanks.

On the A330 you run the risk of getting really old seats (165 degree recline only), correct ?

There are a few major consumer shows in October, and they bring in businesses from around the world.

huegli ALL QR widebodied aircraft have horizontal seats in J. At the moment there are just TWO B777-300s that are fitted with Qsuites.
If you look at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...ays-fleet.html you will see that all B777s, with the two Qsuite exceptions, and some A332s have B/E MiniPod seats in 2-2-2 config. The remaining A330s (A332 and A333) have B/E Diamond seats in 2-2-2 config

Hopefully HKG will never get again the awful A330s. The worst flat business seat in the skies.
HKG is a premium-heavy destination and two 787s are insufficient capacity.
I do like the 777 seating. I would assume that HKG would be on of the first non-US destination to get the Q-suites.
