SO I have 2 options and I wanted opinions. I only want to do 1 leg upgraded. I can do
Nairobi to Doha (6 hours) for 76k for me and my daughter
or
Doha to PhL (13 hours) for 110k.
I'd be transferring points from my SPG acct. I have a few hundred thousand points. Really just want the experience for me and my 6 year old daughter. I've heard that I won't get the email for a cash upgrade with her booked on my ticket.
Thoughts anyone?

HKG-DOH-CWL flying in Y on the 04/08. Originally booked in N. Bit surprised at the high prices to be honest. Especially considering CWL is a new route, is supposed to have low J demand and be performing poorly. Overall, it would work out close to ten thousand HK dollars (£977) cheaper to have bought a J ticket in the first place if the return prices are the same.

Cash upgrades have massively increased in price over the past year or so. I remember being offered a DEL-DOH upgrade for £192 by email a year ago - but yesterday it was offered at £320 during OLCI.
Similarly LHR-DOH previously used to be offered at around £550 when the email offers first started coming - but lately it's been more like £800 via email...
Then a couple of weeks ago I asked to upgrade using qmiles at LHR for the LHR-DOH leg (V class) of a LHR-DOH-DEL itinerary and was told no - but they were willing to instead sell me an airport upgrade for £967 for just the LHR-DOH segment.
Almost £1000 to upgrade LHR-DOH? Umm. No.
Similarly LHR-DOH previously used to be offered at around £550 when the email offers first started coming - but lately it's been more like £800 via email...

Flying out again next wednesday so called QR office to see if i can change my seat or get a cash upgrade.. agent said cant do cash upgrades over the phone and it is illegal to give me a bulk seat or an exit row seat due FA regulations :S

Exit row seats can only be given out in person, normally during check in. Bulk head row is normally also blocked off for families with babies and given to them at check in as well.

It seems that these American consultants gave all the good advices to definitely accelerate QR money loosing. After the ffp "enhancements", now the more than ever upgrade offers inflated prices ! I've just received an email upgrade offer too :
Y-J CDG-DOH : 622 EUR
Y-J DOH-BKK : 639 EUR
all booked in N.
Who would be crazy enough to accept these prices ?
The result will be empty seats in J and empty pockets for QR. They should better have a auction process for upgrades, like many other airlines, starting at a reasonable price.
