Carl380: if you’re not ticketed on QR, I think it’s unlikely, if not impossible, to get a cash upgrade offer.
whats the prefix to your ticket number? It should tell you if it’s a QR ticket or AA, etc.
in any event - yes, offers get sent out in the mail approximately 2-1 weeks out. You also have the chance to check with the check in counter in PHIL and DOH (as these flights are upgradeable per sector)
One last thing to note is that upgrading will not get you J cabin miles, baggage allowance, or lounge access.

Thanks for clarifying, quick follow-up question from my side. Is there a check-in counter in DOH that you can go to to ask for an upgrade without having to go through security during a layover?

Upgrade is applicable only on flights marketed and operated by Qatar Airways and should be issued on Qatar Airways document (ticket numbers starting with 157).

I was quoted from the travel agent $7k aud to have entire PER-DOH-HEL flights upgrade to business.
I am holding on to see any better value from Qatar upgrade offer.

Some advice please: I have been offered a cash upgrade on Qatar for the DOH-BRU leg of a flight from Yerevan (EVN). I am a BAEC account holder and I could do with the tier points in order to requalify next year.
I am a Silver tier member which is Saphire on One World, will I gain access to a lounge in Doha if fly economy? If so which lounge? I have a four hour connection at the airport.
£450 upgrade seems to be the standard fee, it's not the double I've been quoted on some London legs but it's not great value either. What would others do in my situation. Thanks.

You will get access to the Business Class Lounge in Doha (not to be confused with the Al Mourjan Lounge). Have never used the Business Class lounge, but from what I've heard, it is a far cry from Al Mourjan. And talking about lounge access, you won't get lounge access to Al Mourjan if you choose to upgrade. Therefore, either way, you'll end up with access only to the Business Class Lounge as a Sapphire member. You should be able to pay to access AM, but given the price quoted, I don't find it worthwhile.
All you're paying for is essentially a better seat, and better food essentially.
