Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

I'm in SIN now and A7-AMF is parked at the gate for our departure as 947....944 is running quite late so I guess they've swapped to using 946 aircraft today

Well, not only your chances of a qsuites improved but now you also have some sweet EC261 compensation waiting for you...

I have lost track of how many times they have swapped the equipment and I was soooo happy to fly QSuites again.
What are the mini-pods? Are you referring to the A359 with the 2nd smaller J cabin?

Ahh, never mind - I think I found the answer

... older ex-B/E Aerospace Minipod on Airbus A330-200 aircraft

The only positive is that the foot cubby will be larger and it’s delayed. If I’m lucky, I’ll miss my connection and get the compensation.
You likely won't miss the connection ex-DOH. From experience, QR will hold back an entire plane to wait for late arriving / connecting pax.
It happened last Dec. when my flight from BOS was delayed & I only had 30 min. to transfer in DOH. They held the fully boarded plane back 20 mins. to wait for the 2 of us, if I recall the other pax was also in J class.

No, I did miss my connection to TBS in January. We landed pretty much when the next flight was supposed to depart.

Unfortunately yesterday’s QR944 was only about 1.5 hours delayed, so no EU261 compensation. And it didn’t have QSuites either. But I’m still very happy with QR, it’s simply a fantastic airline.

Quad suite on A350 DOH-ARN APril 3, 2019

After having a last minute aircraft change 2 weeks ago on the DOH-SIN flight, we finally got the chance to try the Qsuite. Last Tuesday HKG-DOH on the B777 and yesterday DOH-ARN on the A350. Really impressive. The absence of overhead bins above the middle suites on the A350 definitely makes it spacious. The load was very light yesterday to ARN so I asked the FA if it was possible to see the quad suite as the third seat on our flight from HKG-DOH was occupied. We were really impressed. Definitely First in Business
Were there any other major differences you noticed between the A350 and the 777 Q Suites? Debating now whether to fly to DOH out of JFK (A350) or IAD (777). Is the lack of overhead bins and the lack of air nozzles the only major difference? The A350 is a narrower plane than the 777, does that lead to smaller QSuites, or are the aisles just narrower?

Also, it looks like the JFK flight on the A350 leaves in the morning, so that probably means I won't really get a full night sleep, so that's a bit of a downside.

Much less noise and better air quality (more humid) would be the decisive factors for the A350 for me. There is also a 9pm flight out of JFK.

I believe the A350s have air nozzles at the window seats, but not the center seats. Yes, the Qsuite is narrower on the A350. Personally, I much prefer the 777 but which seats (window or center) and individual preference are the determining factors.

Is the seat on the A350 narrower or is the open space inside the suite just smaller? Is there any difference in the size of footrests? I have big feet and sometimes those small cubbies just don't cut it.

Not sure if the seats are narrower on the A350 but re the footrests, we didn´t notice any difference.

A350 footrest, window

B777 footrest, middle seat

Agree with others that the A350 is much quieter

Just flew the QSuite for the first time twice last night. BOS > DOH and then again DOH > BLR.

Loved the service and the privacy was amazing. Really felt like I was the only one in business. I had seat 3K both flights (and again on my return flights).

The bed was unfortunately quite hard. The drinks helped with that a bit. The mattress pad was more of a cover than a “pad”.

i managed to get a second blanket, of which I folded one into thirds and used that to pad the bed. I got quite a few hours of sleep that way. The air nozzles made the cabin very cool and comfortable.

it was really quite imperceptible that I was flying rear facing. A few times I actually forgot!

Excellent. How many 777s are left to be refitted?
