Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Slightly OT, but this raises an interesting point and one of my pet peeves. Why do they list aircraft range in terms of distance? The distance range is so dependent on other things, like winds, load (which is also affected by configuration), altitude, etc. Why not list aircraft "range" in terms of the number of hours it can fly on a full tank? At least it could list that relatively accurately and more precisely.

What do you call longer?

Because for me LAX-DOH is longer than HKG-DFW and DFW-SYD is longer than DFW-HKG.

DFW-SYD: 7,454 nm
DFW-HKG: 7,058 nm
LAX-DOH: 7,217 nm

I was in row 6 in the middle on the old J so Id have aisle access. But their twitter support told me the Air nozzles are only on the sides. They are probably getting confused with the Qsuites set up, but I am unsure.

Does anyone know if all the seats in J with the old configuration on the 777 have air nozzles?

Because range is the term used in relation to distance, while endurance would be the term used for the amount of time the aircraft can keep flying with a given amount of fuel and is a compulsory field in the flightplan. And yes, range will depend on endurance for reasons you describe, as will Estimated Elapsed Time with regard to the amount of time that a flight will take on a given day due to the same variables..

They just switched tonight's flight ARN-DOH back to minipods from QSuites.
I have lost track of how many times they have swapped the equipment and I was soooo happy to fly QSuites again.

Because, like you said, there are other factors in play. And even the definition of "full tank" or "hours it can fly" depends on the type of aircraft and/or how you load it: some are limited by fuel volume, others are limited by weight. So can you have different cases, like:

a) aircraft that have reached their MTOW (Maximum take off weight) but still have volume for fuel but in this case they traded distance/fuel for payload;

b) aircraft that have reached their fuel volume but the number of hours it can fly on this full tank is higher than normal because they are not carrying a big payload;

c) etc..

Yes, on the 777 all seats in J have air nozzles, regardless of 2-2-2 or Qsuite configuration. So, yay for the 777 configs!

My DOH-ARN flight also was switched back and forth again and again and again and again. Even at the gate for the connecting flight to DOH it was QSuite, but then went back to old config and that's what was flown.

Just landed in DOH, this is really a first world problem. The minipod 359 flight was still very nice.
Now our 359 minipod flight to SIN went tech. Hope they'll find a replacement with QSuites...

Hope you get on a QSuites flight!

Ive been tracking the equipment for DOH-MLE and MLE-DOH for the last few weeks and they do so many last minute equipment swaps. MLE-DOH was being fairly consistent q-suites up until last week but now there are a lot of non q-suites. DOH-MLE was pot luck, some days it is q-suites, others its not.

How do the 787 and A359 compare (non q suites)? Our first leg is on the 787.

The differences are minor. From memory the big one is that the 359s don't have the luggage bins over the central section of the aircraft but my memory could be playing tricks on me.

Both aircraft are very comfy, having flown them recently to BOS. They both have a mini bar counter laid out in the middle of the cabin with champagne & fruit and snacks
For the 787, I sat in row 6EF on the return & it was super private, after seeing a couple seated there on the outbound from CGK. The lavatory nearby didn't bother me.
For the 359, the mini cabin of rows 7-9 is quieter but the pax in Y will be shuffling thru' during boarding so that's the only down side.

I hope everyone gets the QSuites too! ^

I think so too, but my memory is hazy. LOL ...

My CMB flights were changed from QSuites to Qatam & has never changed back since so YMMV
Trying calling or emailing the local QR office, they may allow you a change to one with QSuites.

CMB office was fantastic, their replies were prompt & helpful. They even helped me with my seat assignments on the QSuites from JFK-DOH.
I tried to select a seat in an empty quad but the system wouldn't allow it. LOL ...
I already knew that but just trying my luck.
I'll just try at the airport when I check in, or shamelessly invite myself into a Quad with only 2 pax in it just for a look see
