Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

Very good to read that the 772LR conversion should be complete by May. Any insight into the 773 conversion?

I’ll be checking the seat maps so for our flights regularly then! I hope it doesn’t change, really want to try out Qsuites.

So I still need some advice then on seat selection ...

Which quad for a family of 3? A359 so 9 rows. Want to book an EF pair for me and mini pineapple. Mr Pineapple then in a forward seat in the quad. If you book an EF pair with one of the forward facing quads, can you open the divider screen on either E or F (rather than both) so that you can see the forward facing person in your group but not the other forward facing person?

All quads available on one flight, 3EF not available on the other but all other quads available. Just thinking of meal selection etc, are we better going 3EF/5EF (but is the forward facing seat in the 5EF quad then not ideal as it’s closer to lavatory etc?). What is the 1EF quad like? Too close to galley? Any other disadvantages to row 1? Are there overhead bins in row 1 or is it like in the 777 where there are none in row 1?

Or ... if the likelihood of an equipment change happening and reverting back to a 1-2-1 configuration, am I best booking EF and then the rear-facing seat by the window so at least if equipment changes to 1-2-1 then at least we’re all in confirmed seats in the same row? If it stayed Qsuites, would a window seat still be better for Mr Pineapple rather than in a quad if we can’t put down the divider?

Thanks! Sorry for the many questions!

Just booked CPH to AKL over Christmas and New year later this year, seat maps showing 2-2-2 configuration except the final DOH-CPH leg.

Good chances these will be upgraded to Q Suites by December?

So I just got an EF notify that they plane type changed for our July flight and sure enough it now shows 772 with suites. Unfortunately our middle pair seats switched to windows and everything middle is blocked. As far as getting a pair in the middle is it wait and see or ask?

DOH - AKL now showing 77L with Qsuites for my flight mid June. Happy days, but fingers staying crossed until I see the plane in front of me!

As with others the middle pairs were all blocked out, but after a 5 min call with QR an E&F pair for the two of us in our booking was arranged.

I have Qsuites all the way from ORD-DOH-BLR and on the return BLR-DOH-IAH.

Is it worth it to book the double bed as a solo traveler, or just choose an odd row window seat (3, or 5 window)?

Definitely book a window seat. It’s not a true double bed because of the foot cubbies.

Has anyone heard any updates on when the A380 refit will start to take place?

I don't imagine it will... QR has announced they will retire each A380 as it reaches 10 years of service. The Qsuite doesn't fit in the A380 or the B787 as the cabins are narrower - initially QR said they would redesign the Qsuite to fit those aircraft, but all has gone quiet on that front now. Given they will start retiring the A380s in 6 years, I doubt any refit will actually happen.

With QSuites? I didn't think that they were going to put them in the 380.
