Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

For me, almost any seat is fine for eating, watching a movie, or reading. Where the Qsuites are outstanding is when sleeping. I find the extra privacy from the closed door makes a world of difference in my being able to sleep. I'm sure there are many people who sleep just fine no matter how "exposed" the seat feels, but for me it makes a huge difference. (Yes, obviously, the privacy from the door is somewhat illusory since anyone standing up can easily see over the wall, but it feels private.)

Did you try moving the seat forward? There's an adjustment for that. I use it when watching TV, or else I recline the seat enough so my legs are supported. But even if the seat didn't have this, I'd still prefer the Qsuites because sleeping is so much better for me with an enclosed suite.

Yes, exactly, it's part of the Qsuite seat adjustment buttons.

Pardon my ignorance, but if the Q Suite is coming to LAX in Feb, where are they pulling the extra plane from? Is a route going to lose the Q Suite? Right now, it seems that even if A7-BBC is retrofitted, they are still going to be a plane or two short. Or does QR plan on having at least six planes converted by Feb 5th?

DOH-LAX flight time is ~16 hours. It cannot be served by "the extra plane" (singular). Long before it has returned to DOH, the next day's outbound flight will be in the air. This is true of all North American destinations.

Thanks for the reply. I think that helps to justify my point even more: Does QR plan to have two more frames retrofitted by Feb 5th? Or are the additional aircraft going to be pulled from other routes?

A7-BBI will be out of maintenance in the next days with QSuites refitted in it. And if everything goes as planned one more aircraft will enter service right after, and so on. By Feb 15th-ish 3 new Qsuite 77Ls will be in service

Just booked what seems to be a great AA award booking for 280K with 3/4 long haul legs in QSuites! 2 of the legs I hadn't seen with Qsuites before are MLE-DOH and DOH-BOS. Hope the equipment doesn't change! Paired it up with 5 nights at the St. Regis Maldives for 240k Marriott points. This should be interesting...

I'm looking to book the qsuites to Boston as they're starting them in March; however, sometime in October the seat map switches to non-Qsuite equipped A350 on ExpertFlyer. Is this a glitch? Could it be that QR is putting Qsuites on this route seasonally?

It could be just that QR hasn't yet loaded the configurations, or maybe they haven't decided which equipment to run past October, or it could be that they are planning to switch Qsuites to some other route. There is a history of QR putting Qsuites on some routes temporarily.

Same question.
How about 1E/1F on 77W?
The doors shut out the noise?

I wouldn't worry too much about noise, because I think on QR the FAs are not as noisy as on some airlines (e.g., AA). But, be aware that there is no center bin above row 1 on the 77W (the space is used by the flight deck crew rest).

Well I won't celebrate until I'm actually on the plane, but it's very exciting

Does anyone know if this is the first time a QSuite 77L is scheduled to serve he LAX route?

On Friday I was in 5A. So only one more row behind me before the gallery. It was a daytime flight but I cannot remember hearing any noise at all. So would have no issue being in row 6, or the first row after the gallery (row 7). The toilets are at the front so you don't have to worry about that noise either.
