Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

For take-off and landing, as the plane pitches up, does it feel like you're leaning forward?
Just flew Q Suites rear-facing and no, it does not feel like you're leaning forward. I would definitely choose the rear-facing window seat for the reasons you already mentioned, and you should not worry about the pitch on takeoff. Enjoy - my husband and I both said it was the best seat/service we've ever had on a plane.

The rear seat has an odd feeling on take off and landing as you are used to different sensations. Recently I did the forward facing window seat on the 77W and contrasted it to the rear facing experience. The rear facing window seat feels a bit more spacious. I'm still torn on the suite concept. It feels very narrow in the seat and the space feels like you are boxed in. The forward facing window seat has the wall right on your left shoulder which makes you feel even more claustrophobic.

The 77W is such a wide and big aircraft and the 350 is equally wide, creating such a nice spacious feel. Sticking cubicle suites into such widebodies is a shame...

Yes, but to me the few minutes of feeling odd are far outweighed by the much better in-flight experience. I do get a bit car-sick during taxi when facing backwards, but again, this is just a few minutes of the flight.

It doesn't sound like you are torn at all; you are firmly against the suits. I can see how someone might prefer a wide-open look and feel; this is very much a matter of personal preference. For me, I sleep much, much better when I feel I am in a private space, and even when watching a film or eating, I much prefer being in my own space and not seeing other people or being on display. For me, the suite is a huge win, and even if it was smaller than it is I'd prefer it.

I tend to agree. I haven't yet experienced the Q-Suites and my trip to Oz in Dec (OSL-DOH-PER and MEL-DOH-ARN) looks like not having them either way. I was in J on a BA 787 last week and was stuck in the middle seat of three in the centre block. After a while I grew to like it as I was completely private with the screens up (ying yang seating) and as narrow as it was, it gave me a taste of what Q Suites feels like, albeit with less space. I can only imagine I'd be much happier with the space and privacy on QR.

Interesting point. How does leaving the door open change that? It doesn't make the J cabin more spacious overall, but does it make you feel less closed in?

Was just checking my MMB for AC changes and to my delight my AMS- DOH has changed yet again back to Q Suites and we’ve been assigned 1EF. Expert flyer shows all other Quad seats blocked! Interesting there’s only 6 rows instead of usual 11. Does this mean a modified 773?

77W is wider than A350 by 9-inches while both equipped with 1-2-1 Qsuite cubicles.
Where does 9-inches go? The aisles are wider?

For sleeping, the extra privacy in the Q-Suite is great, but I think I am with Oliver2002 when it comes to a day flight.
I love the wide open feel of the older A350 cabin for a day flight and feel the seat offers sufficient privacy. Perhaps I am slightly claustrophobic

Hi All,

I am flying QR 815 HKG-DOH and QR 273 DOH-AMS on 1/12/18. At the time of booking both of these flights had QSuites. I have just completed OLCI and it looks like both of these flights have had a equipment swap.

Am I super unlucky or is this a regular occurrence? QR is heavily promoting the QSuites in HKG with billboards everywhere.

I am quite disappointment as my alternatives was CX direct, alas, I also knew equipment swaps was a possibility.

Sorry if this has been discussed upthread but the one really noticeable thing from sitting in the mini cabin on the 350K is the lack of lavatories. 3 Lavs for 46 J seats just isn't enough compounded by the fact that the single mid-cabin lav is effectively shared with Y cabin.

Was the load in Business Class low? If it is the case, then it is the main reason it was a last minute aircraft swap. It was the same with my friend's both flights.

My friend spoke to the cabin manager on his flight about the Qsuites and she said if the load is low in Business Class, QR will most likely swap the aircraft at the last minute.

Assigning couples Qsuite on 2 PNRs -

Hi Everyone, my wife and I are flying Qsuites together on separate record locators.

The online system does not allow either of us to select any of the middle seats, only the window single seats. The middle ones are blocked off on the online seatmap.

I called Qatar airways, waited on hold, gave her the record locator, and she said *all* of the middle qsuites are blocked off for airport use. She said they are available, but there is *no way* to assign them until we arrive at the airport.

This sounds crazy to me. Can this possibly be true? it's a risk I really don't wan to take. Thanks.

HUCA worked no problem. Wish it took less than 90 minutes to assign seats

Finally tried the Q suite to ORD.

Really impressive hard product and as always, QR service and food were top notch.

I was originally in 8A, but noticed the row 7 middle seats were empty. The fantastic FA combined them for me and I had a little double suite all to myself

Can't wait for LAX to get this plane next year.
