Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Ok, this is probably a dumb question, but I want to make sure I get this right. Four of us on a single PNR are trying to get seats on 77L. Qatar's website appears to shows the quad as 3EF and 4DG. Seatguru has the 77W seatmap (no Qsuites 77L) with the quad as 2DE and 3EF because the first row isn't part of the quad. So, 3EF/4DG is the correct one right? Thanks!

In a non-Qsuites 777L, the seats are all forward-facing 2-2-2, so no quad:

Thanks anabolism and Flyiboy for the replies.
Ahh, ok, I see what you mean. Sorry, my question wasn't completely clear. I've picked 3EF and 4DG and I was worried that I picked the half of one quad and half the other quad (like picking 2DG and 3EF) but I was clearly confused. Thanks!
I'm not following your question. There is only a quad if it's a Qsuites configuration. Check EF for the seat map for your specific flight and date. If it is a Qsuites, then any successive set of EFDG seats are a quad, e.g., 1EF 2DG or 3EF 4DG or 5EF 6DG. This is very obvious when looking at the seat map.

I've you read this thread, you will see many posts confirming that there is a divider between the EF seats that can be raised. (The DG seats also have a divider, but do not form a double bed.) Note that even with the divider, your heads will be next to each other, so snoring could be an issue.

By the way, the EF pair don't actually form a double bed, because there is a gap between the seats. But you still get the full double suite.

I know that I've said this before (waaaay upthread), but don't forget that eventually all QR long haul aircraft will be equipped with QSuites, except possibly the 380s, -- I'm not sure about them. So while you may not get to try them on your next flight, you will eventually. I don't know what the conversion rate is right now, but it does continue.
