Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Delighted to just find out our flight for Christmas to Male looks to now have Qsuites. I booked in J with Avios for 2 adults and 2 kids so am really looking forward to trying the middle seats that they advertise for families. The seat map looks pretty open for the way out (10 Dec) but just to confirm, which are the 4 seats to reserve for the family of 4? Seatguru is not pulling this info up for me.

I wonder how many 77Ls will have Qsuites installed by Feb 2019. As of now, There are two 77Ls with Qsuites mostly doing the IAH and ME/India rotations. I do see IAH getting a non Qsuite 77L like once a week or so. I think for IAH and LAX to be "guaranteed" Qsuites, there has to be about 4 or 5 77Ls with Qsuites by Feb 2019. If not, those with LAX bookings in Feb/March will be playing a lottery.

I'm hopping to fly DOH-SEA in april but I'd rather route through ORD to have a 99% chance of getting Qsuites than through LAX or IAH.

I agree...so if someone books LAX-DOH for the sole reason of flying in Q-suites, it's a gamble fore sure...but (as is my case) you have to fly this route anyway, then Q-suites (if they materialize) would be just cherry on top...

GRU/EZE route is getting QSuites with 77Ls (77K) three times a week as of December and daily from January on. Currently there's one getting reconfigured (A7-BBB) and my guess is that they will keep up doing one per month.

I booked LAX-DOH for the end of January and hoped for Qsuites, of course, so disappointed that it will be the old 2-2-2 configuration. Flew Qsuites LHR-DOH earlier this year, and DOH-CBR-DOH last week, so now the old configuration is disappointing.

so I'm guessing BBB will be out of mods by the end of the month? If that's the case and QR does stick to making 77L mods 1/mo, that means there could be 5 77Ls by beginning of Feb 2019. With 5 aircraft, i do not see LAX having Qsuites on a daily basis. But maybe by april, they can have enough 77Ls with Qsuites to make LAX daily. We'll see what happens!

Just flew QSuites to MLE yesterday on A359 and it was great. You should ask for rows 3 & 4. Seats would be 3E, 3F, 4D and 4G. Those comprise the “quad”. Row 3 is rear facing and the seats are essentially connected. Great set-up for a family. You could also take rows 1&2, 5&6 or 7&8 same letters. I like row 3/4 because it’s in the middle not near bathrooms.

Is there anyway to find out what aircraft tail number will be routed to what cities a few days before departure other then flight radar 24, which you only find out when the pilots turn on the transponder right before departure?

In reality, until you turn up at the gate, you can't really get any certainity on which frame will fly a specific sector. QR are notorious for last minute operational swaps.

That being said, the QR Cargo website will give you a good indication of the expected aircraft type and seating layout with a fairly good degree of certainty from about 1 month before travel, excluding last minute operational swaps.

BBB will be out next week. They are taking almost one month to reconfigure right now, but the pace might be faster once they "get used" to it. Same thing happened with AA's 772s, started taking one month and ended up being 2-3 weeks. So by the beginning of February most likely we'll see 5-6 reconfigured.

I had EF alerts set for DOH-ARN and it kept switching back and forth. At check-in on my connecting flight the agent gave me BPs for both flights and commented that I was getting Qsuites all the way through. I mentioned that it had kept changing and she said "Oh, I don't think it'll change again." Sure enough, shortly after landing in DOH on the connecting flight I got an EF alert that it had changed back o non-Qsuites. Fine for a six-hour flight of course. It's LAX-DOH in late January that I'm bummed about.

Wanted to do qr815 on march 25 and qr818 on apr 7
1) 815 is not a qsuite config
2) seems like they do not have guaranteed q suite beyond march 31 for now

sad

Are you getting your info from the seat map on QR reservations booking?

My wife and I will fly with Qatar Qsuite on 77W.

Both Qatar seat selection & Expertflyer show all Quad seats are blocked.
How or When can we select "couple" seats?

Are there any difference over rows? We will avoid row 1 & 7 not to close to the lavatory.

Thanks!
