Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

The convention is to shorten, say, a Boeing 787-900 to B789; but that does not work when it's a -1000. So G ("grand") is used instead.

Apologies, I meant to write A35K. A35K is the ICAO designation for the A350-1000, though I believe QR refers to this type as the 351. 35G is what CX calls their A350-900.

Not confusing at all, right?

Sorry to hear that your aircraft was switched, I hope you got to experience the QSuites & let us know how it was.
I'm traveling on QR 668/669 next April & I just realized that it's on an Qsuites aircraft, either it was just updated recently or I must have not noticed it when I booked a few months ago.

Looks like 704 JFK-DOH was just changed to Q Suites (at least, for my flight in mid-November). Expert Flyer notified me of the change in seating config. They initially assigned us new seats on the side aisle near window. I was able to book the center seats for my husband and me online in "Manage My Booking".

QR2 out of LHR on Sunday has now changed to q suites, still an A350. At the moment there’s only rear facing quad seats, row 1, 7 or 9 (last row) available. Any benefits or negatives to choosing the first or last row, I’d rather have had window seats but they’re all gone.

edited: it doesn’t show it on the online seat map but ive found trip reports showing a larger and smaller cabin, so chosen row 7 in the smaller cabin.

Will finally get to try Q suites DOH-ORD in 3 weeks

Had the option of flying straight to LAX, but I routed through Chicago and bought a separate ticket to LA just to try Q suites so I hope it's worth it

Good luck. It is worth it, but QRsuite roulette could mean that you get all the displeasure of LAX-ORD for nothing.

Do you know how often the Qsuites are taken off the ORD route?

QSuite roulette is not really a thing on the routes on which it was officially launched...Not just for which it is sometimes randomly scheduled, but routes for which it is officially announced: LHR, JFK, IAD, ORD. The only way those routes would happen not to get QSuite products on the 77W is if a plane has to be taken out of service or for some other unforeseen operational reason.

This is nothing at all like scheduling a QSuite 77W for DOH-CMB and then swapping it out at the last minute.
