Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

The seat is rather narrow and very firm. I'm not very tall or wide but doubt that a 6ft person would feel ok with the length. The footwell in my seat was already broken and bent out of shape. Plugging in your things to the right across the path felt odd. The suite door thing is a novelty. What was cute was the Indian and Philipino FAs/CSD peeking over the door checking if I needed anything.

Your review is the exact reasons I wouldn’t wish for AKL to get Q suites. Having done it with the ‘old’ seat, the spacious open cabin is good for such a long trip.
First trips on the Q suite and the Apex suite (Oman) coming up, will be very interested to compare. I can see Apex being more comfortable if not as fashionable

Just got off a B77W with super old style seating to PEK. While the seat was crap the large cabin of the 777 stood out. The dark suites in the new layout totally kill that.

I'm having my first flights in Q suites coming up. JFK-DOH-BOM and back, all 4 legs Q suites. Pretty excited to check it out!
In AA's reverse herringbone setup, I usually take the seats where the seat is towards the window, not the aisle, as those are more private. Does the same apply to the Q suite setup, or is there no difference anymore because of the door anyway shielding you from the aisle?

tried and liked both. Arguably I’d say the b/j seats (away from window) are even more private as you are against the door and all you see is the empty space to the window. In the a/k seats your empty space is by the door so you can see the top/shadow of people walking in the aisle.

qrcargo.com site is showing very frequent QSuite (77K) flights on the DOH-GRU-EZE route (QR773) from December and pretty much daily from January 19.
I'm guessing (and hoping) A7-BBA is being refitted now and more will be in the following months..

SeatGuru and ExpertFlyer do not match
Hey guys
I got an ExperFlyer notification regarding the flight from IAH-DOH on a particular date. Expertflyer now shows Qsuites, yet when I go to SeatGuru, SeatGuru is still showing no Qsuites.
Isn't Experflyer "powered by SeatGuru"? Who should I trust?
I do not want to move my reservation if it turns out Experflyer is wrong
Thoughts?

EF uses Seatguru for only seat evaluations (e.g. green, yellow, red and associated comments). Yes, Seatguru is showing incorrect seat maps for many/all QR flights with QSuites.

First, the 77W has luggage bins over the center seats, but the 35G does not. Second, the overhead reading lights on the 77W are misaligned with the seat and can't be adjusted to point at the correct position; it was a bit annoying. Third, the 77W has the terrible Boeing lavatory occupied signs; they're hard to read and just a poor design. The Airbus has large, bright green/red lavatory signs that make it obvious when the lav is occupied. I really wish Boeing could follow Airbus on this.
Finally, the Boeing has a TERRIBLE IFE map system, despite being a new plane. The Airbus is very slick, but the 77W map system look like something out of the early 90s and lacks the features of the 35G. A bit of a joke for a brand new plane to have such laughably outdated IFE systems.
Luckily, both planes have air nozzles at each seat, an excellent design choice that many 77Ws lack.

Too bad the A350 doesn't have overhead bins for the center seats. Sounds like there could be bin contention issues on this plane.

If you think about it for a minute, EF is showing which seats are occupied and which seats are vacant...how is that info 'powered by Seatguru'? And the seat assignment data suggest that the EF layout is up to date.

Better 1K, 5K or 8K?
I've been assigned qsuites 1K and 8A on my return trip to CBR. I've read many comments here that raw 3 is the best, but unfortunatey it is already busy. Would you recommend me to change one or both of my preassigned seats to 5A or 5K, the only window seats still available in the front cabin? Thanks for your help!
