Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I had the same issue, although there are two of us on my booking. Its happened before (using the mobile app) where i've been able to select my pre-assigned side seat, and select and drop the passenger to a middle seat which appears blocked, but it lets me place the passenger on it and save. Then it opened the lot up for me, was a bit strange.

Apologies if I caused confusion.
So based on new schedule/equipment changes it looks like starting 10/28 that QR701/702 between JFK and DOH are changing from 77W with Qsuites to 351 with Qsuites. The bad news is that the other flights between JFK/DOH QR703/QR704 will remain as 359 without Qsuites at least as the schedule reads right now. It appears the one daily LHR/DOH each way and two daily FRA/DOH each way flights lose the 351 at this same time which makes sense as the A350-1000 was designed to fly longer hauls more efficiently that the six hours or so that I figure they were testing/breaking them in on such short routes.

Also, it looks like a new Qatar A350-1041 (A7-ANC / F-WZGM) took it's first test flight yesterday and an A350-941 with Qsuites (A7-AME / F-WZGF) took it's second test flight. Assuming all goes well that would mean two additional A350s with Qsuites would come on line my mid-Sept. It does not appear to me that those have been reflected in any of the recent schedule/equipment changes but I didn't check all the potential routes. So perhaps there is hope that by mid-Sept that JFK could all be Qsuites (although I am not holding my breath!).

Just saw that CBR has QSuites for my November flights. Which makes sense given the post above that SYD gets QSuites from November on.

Given that it's slightly over three months away, does this seem likely to get switched again (back to old-style 2-2-2 77W)? I've picked EF seats for the two of us, but am worried that if it switches back we'd end up in lousy seats.

I can see on ExpertFlyer that most of the EF are open but it doesn't give me any change options.

Also, does this plane have wifi?
I don't think row matters much, aside from being closer to a lavatory or galley. Odd that EF would show center quad seats as open. My experience is that QSuites show on EF as window seats open, center seats blocked (or occupied, of course).

If the QR web site won't let you pick center seats, you can try calling QR. Reports in this thread are very mixed, and my own experience has been that on a QR-issued ticket it lets me pick center seats when there are two of us in the same PNR, but when the ticket was issued by RJ or AA it won't. However, it may also depend on the route and how far out the flight is. Even when QR wouldn't initially let me pick center seats, it did so within a few weeks of the flight.

NRT is getting the Qsuites with the winter schedule.

IAH will have the Qsuites daily from 1 October after the second 777-200LR gets reconfigured.

The winter schedule still doesn't reflect all the Qsuites aircraft, especially the A359.

You don't think that they'll put any in the LAX 772-LR rotation?

I checked on the app this morning and all D/G and E/F seats were blocked as were some side seats too. Expertflyer confirmed that the centre seats were indeed blocked and not taken. A few minutes ago I checked on the web site and all the previously blocked seats were suddenly available! So I moved us to an E/F pair. Just to be sure I checked that my choices have stuck. They have - but now the blocking is back again!

Bizarre.

Flying KWI-DOH-NRT on August 7th and my KWI-DOH flight recently changed to a 773 with Qsuite configuration which means it'll finally be my first time in them... but despite my friend and I being on the same reservation/PNR, we weren't given the option to select the two middle seats so we're separated behind one another.

We're also flying ICN-DOH-KWI on August 24th on board QR859 which, as per my understanding, was supposed to be operated using Qsuites as opposed to the other ICN flight but my flight hasn't had any loaded up. Instead, my DOH-KWI flight is listed as a 351 with Qsuites with the same seat selection problem as noted above. Wonder if ICN will get the Qsuites or not...

The only way it would change would be due to some form of technical issue with either the plane on the day planned to fly the route, or another route and that plane is needed. So this is a (small) risk to every route. I would be VERY surprised if they revert the whole route to a non qsuite route. I wouldn't worry about this, i'm in the same situation. I'd say you'd have more chance of getting stuck in traffic to the airport (please don't hold me to account on that statement)

Bizarre.
My experience on "blocked" flights is that I can call and select E&F (paid booked on QR website) and it then opens all seats on the website.

Thanks! Appreciate the insight. Looking forward to second QSuites flight, and a nice long one where it will make more of a difference.

Hello, I have a flight that is from DOH-HKG on 25th Oct. Originally this was the old 777 layout (not a problem to be honest, I find it quite spacious) so at the time of booking I reserved a seat by the window. This aircraft now seems to have swapped for a QSuite 777. The problem is this change occurred around a month ago and clearly my assigned seat no longer existed on the aircraft which was then removed.

The problem is that the entire seat map is greyed out, no seat is selectable and even looking on Check my trip it shows the something. Is this usual? Do QR lock the seat maps when they make such a change - I would have thought it would have opened up by now for selection? For what its worth, the return 777 changed to QSuite too and allows me to select my seat just fine.

The exact same thing happened to me. And then I remembered that you can scroll the seat selection map to see the last few rows of J which are not visible when the map loads up. Seats were available there.
