Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

No, the A340 sucks. But make sure you're in row 1 so at least you have some space for your feet when you lie flat. Otherwise you need to amputate your feet..

There are no bad QR widebody aircraft. Even the A340 will be decent, but of course 2-2-2 isn't great.
I would ask for compensation. Is it a return flight? If so, I would ask to be rebooked on QSuites for the return.
You can also ask to be moved to a flight to SIN instead of KUL (I just chose KUL instead of SIN when we lost QSuites from SIN).
Good luck and enjoy QR!

That's quite a re-route just for Qsuites & KUL doesn't get their 1st Qsuites svc until 15 July (subject to last minute changes, I'm sure)
As I mentioned upthread, SIN is an all Qsuites destination but on some days of the week in April, there can be 1-3 sub to the regular A359.
Anyhow, exSIN if there are no Qsuites, you'd still get the A359 which is a very decent aircraft.

EDIT - this just in @:-)
https://mainlymiles.com/2019/03/22/qatar-airways-postpones-plan-to-make-singapore-an-all-qsuite-route/

Basically - The Qsuite will now only be guaranteed on all Qatar Airways' Singapore flights from 16th July

Not to mention positioning to KUL involves extra effort + the airport itself leaves much to be desired (I know coz I've done the shuttle flights almost every month for the last 10 years)

Enjoy you Qsuites flights! ^

Nope, not by FT standards
If your flight is tomorrow, do u still have time to call the MAN QR office to request for a change (+/-1 day or whenever the Qsuite is flying) though that might affect your hotel booking in KUL & the trip in general. If that is worth the extra effort for the Qsuite experience then go for it!
Good luck ^

I'm to be in KL anyway, so for me it was a matter of "I'm not going to get QSuites anyway, then I at least want the more convenient airport and a day later departure" (we were rebooked from I into D class).
But I was talking about the opposite here, rebooking MAN-KUL to MAN-SIN, as there's a higher chance to get QSuites that way. But of course you'd have to pay for SIN-KUL out of pocket.

Yes. Many people here like the 2-2-2 seating; although I don't. You'll still get the excellent food and service.

... Where you'll be subject to last minute aircraft substitution, anyway. There is no compensation (by changing your return flights or otherwise) for aircraft substitution; and there shouldn't be. Can you imagine the chaos if compensation were required every time there was an aircraft substitution? And then if QSuites were put back on the route, they would have to recover the compensation?

Sure, you can ask, but I cannot think of a reason that QR would agree to this (unless you are on a ticket which has no fee for changes). Then you quickly end up in a situation where everyone who is subject to an aircraft substitution going from QSuites to non-QSuites is going to want to switch flights. What does QR do when there aren't enough seats on the QSuites flight because some people actually booked that flight in the beginning?

You don’t have to “think of a reason” - QR have done that themselves. ;-)

Their policy is as simple as it’s generous: You lose QSuites, you can rebook for free, no matter the booking class.
You can change both the date and the departure/arrival airport (within 500 miles).
For us this meant being able to change our I-class inbound flight from SIN-OSL to KUL-ARN one day later, where there only was D class availability. And we didn’t even get QSuites back that way, but we chose convenience over having to position back to SIN.
Had we booked that flight outright, it probably would have cost us several thousand dollars more.
But you can only rebook once, so make up your mind well.

It's looking like 1st June for the last 77L to 77K QSuite conversion as they have announced this in the Auckland paper NZ Herald

The two unconverted aircraft BBF and BBH have been on a regular rotation to Auckland.

I see that they’re swapping aircraft pairs around in April on the SIN-DOH route,
with QR944 turning around to do QR947 with a short turn around of 70mins, whilst QR946 sits on the ground for 10.5hrs to fly back as QR945.

i wonder why they changed this as you would it would have made more sense to keep the current pairings, with QR946 arriving SIN 1545 and departing as QR 947 at 2125.

Do they commonly have such short turnaround times for the A350? I’m flying on 947 in mid April, currently scheduled as A359...I don’t really mind if I miss out on QSuite but I’m a bit nervous this new short turnaround time is going to put me at risk of a delay for my onwards connection in DOH.

...And they put QSuites back on our flight in April. Man, this is so exciting!
But wait... It still says A359? Are there A359's with QSuites? QR172 ARN-DOH on April 10.

Thanks! There's no mini-cabin in the A359, right?

Basically, created a hash map with all the aircrafts and their types from The Complete Guide to the Qatar Airways Fleet and then wrote a small script which would on input like "beb bej bet" (meaning A7-BEB, A7-BEJ, A7-BET) spit out something like "QS ML QL" (meaning QSuites short, MiniPod long, QSuites long", long/short being whether there's two parts of J cabin on the plane or one). Then on Flightradar24 went through all the flights for QR273 since November and wrote down the aircraft registration and ended up with an overview of frequency and patterns of MiniPod seats. I noticed that there were more chance that a short cabin would be replaced with MiniPod seat, figured simply because there's less Q Suite refitted short business cabin planes, so I avoided Mondays and Thursdays. Then noticed there was not a single Friday MiniPod seats since the beginning of operation except for January 25th which happened after I booked the tickets but it was also a different aircraft type (772 instead of 773), so I figured it was an exception in operation. Friday also made sense for me since it's the day when both Qataris and Dutchmen are likely to travel to spend a weekend thus it would be biggest dissatisfaction should the aircraft type change.

This is what I had in the end:

Code:
Stats (Nov 19—Mar 31)
M: ML QL QL QL MS MS QS QS MS QS QS ML QS QS QS MS QS QS QL
T: QL QL QL QL QL QL QL MS QL QL QL QL QL QL QL ML ML QL QL
W: QL ML ML QL MS QL QL ML QL ML QL ML QL QL ML QL QL QL QL
T: ML ML QL QL MS QS MS MS QS QS ML QS MS QS MS QS MS QS MS

S: ML MS QL QL QL QL QS QL QL QL QL QL QL QL QL QL QS QL QL
S: ML QL ML QL QL QL MS QL ML QS QL QL QL QL QL ML QL QL QL
As you can see Fridays and Saturdays are among the least replaced days but Saturday also features a short cabin once in a while so it was another flag for me.

Still, despite all the research and energy invested, I ended up in a MiniPod seat on Friday the 22nd (the Friday on the column before the last one is the one I flew.) Called QR when noticed the replacement and asked if we could move our reservation to Saturday 23rd, but they said they can't make an exception in this case. Flight was still pretty good though, but I can imagine it could have been even better.

That’s really strange. I’ve never had any issues with rebooking for free, even into a more expensive booking class.
