Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

There seems to be a divider that comes up to roughly eye-level, but I agree solo flyers would probably want to go for A or K...

Ouch I just realized this now. That would be very uncomfortable indeed!

So this begs the questions, is the Q Suite on par with 1st class now as a product? Obviously you get more space in 1st class.

I'd say it is in many way a step down from the current biz product on 787/350:

- Legs still go in a hole, means always bumping legs around when moving around in my sleep.
- Less of the area is seat, but used ofr other somewhat "constructed" purposes to cover for this being another type of "seat-in-seat" design.
- Fewer desirable seats for a single traveller than before.
- Sitting backwards without window access is confusing.
- What real use does the "quarter size seat" just next to the actual seat serve?
- This likely means a price hike to pay for this.

All in all, of all things I wanted QR to spend money on this was the last thing on my list. They already desperately need training of crew on the ground, and all levels of customer service to be given more flexibility. The 777's might have been nice to get up to the same seats as 787's, but nothing urgent. Or even getting new seats in the A32x's I end up getting to East Africa.

All in all, given that QR consistently charges an arm and a leg for JRO, it's time to see what other carriers can get me there for less, and to start seeing what options exist for Asian travels. The other day they rounded it off with another email telling me how they have been listening and making lots more award seats available and all I'm seeing is 40% price hikes in biz and 2X miles all over, today another email trying to fob off the current level of biz pricing as something to celebrate.

It was nice being a platinum for as long as it lasted, but it's time to move on. Time to book a few mileage trips to burn through the miles and QCredits and leave.

There's a reason the phrase 'first business' appears a number of times in the video.

F will remain on the A380, and I suppose eventually not be updated.

Interesting product. The double bed is cool, but the concept of letting 4 people kind of stay in the same "suite" is very interesting. Certainly wasn't expecting this, especially when the rage about J products these days seem to be privacy and solo seats.

Maybe its just the routes/season I fly, but I come across quite a lot of Middle Eastern families travelling in J. Perhaps this is a market they are going after.

Am curious to see what the new configuration will be like. Cut J and keep Y the same, or Keep J and reduce Y.

It does seem to be emulating Emirates. More importantly what will it do to the pricing? Hope not ratchet it up too far northwards...

It seems it will remain as is, i.e. 42 seats in the 77W.

Actual seat width is shrinking. Not surprising considering that the new walls and mini tables take up space.
And what are you gonna do traveling solo and the only seats left are the center two? Hookup with a stranger??

Once the centre divider is up and the door to the suite is closed I think it will still be a good seat if booked last minute.

Overall I think this looks like a fantastic product. Lots of different options to chose from. The privacy aspect is excellent for sleeping or working. It will be interesting to see how it feels during a day flight when I quite enjoy watching what goes on throughout the cabin and if it feels slightly claustrophobic.

I can't wait to try this.

No problem if she's cute! there is a divider though between the two seats, I assume it will probably be ok although less private than the window seats.

Seems to be true for the 'love seats' as well. There is a slit in the middle there too.

The only things I see are that the entry/exit may be difficult for some, and does that side 'table' raise up to become the 2nd armrest? If not, is there a 2nd armrest?
Yes, the little corner part does raise up as an arm rest. Similar to the current 787/A350 product with storage for water/headphones etc. inside as well.

It could be a retractable arm-rest that's not clearly visible from the photos?
