Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Qsuite will be available on flights to and from Singapore’s Changi Airport from 1 November 2018. Per QR’s. https://www.qatarairways.com/en/pres...Press-releases

Do all of the award bookings of Q suites from North America end in Doha? Or can you book through Doha in order to fly the Q suites? If so in order to use Amex points if you transfer to Aisa Miles do they allow you to book LAX-DOH-CAI for example? Or if no Q suites from LAX can you book IAD-DOH-CAI and arrange reposition to IAD? I've read up a bit on this, sorry to sound as if I am lazily asking others to do the work for me but I am not clear on how to book. I wouldn;t mind seeing Doha for a short stop over but can I do it as a transit or do i need to book separate tickets? Thank you

Each program has its own rules. If you want to book with Asia Miles, you will need to follow their rules, and should check their web site and the relevant FT forum.

I typically book QR awards using AA miles, which allows booking North America to Africa through Doha on QR as a single award, provided the connection in Doha is under 24 hours. Some programs (such as BA) permit stop-overs, but that's typically because the cost (such as in Avios) is per-flight. But the rules will be different for each program.

Oh well, I'm flying back to the States on the 22 October. However, I'm sure by the time my 2019 dive trip comes around, the QSuites will be more plentiful.

That will be A7-BBA, the first Q Suite 77L (77K) to Auckland arriving 12 Oct. This aircraft usually lives on the Houston run.

Hopefully they (BBA & BBG) will turn up more regularly.

I'm flying DOH-MLE (QR672, 2AM departure) in November and it appears that they have been subbing the QSuites A359 on this flight the last few days. Fingers crossed I get lucky in November. Either way, I'd still be happy with the normal A359.

Looks like BBA and BBG do turn up on AKL route. I hope to be lucky one. How do I read from Cargo website which aircraft is it? My flight is on 19th from Doha. At the momen it only says B777 and seat plan is standard 2-2-2. Does it change later to 77K?

It should change to 77K - that’s what happened to the flights last week. Just not sure how far in advance it is likely to happen. Seems to be pretty last-minute - a few days before, maybe?

According to Qatar source both A7-BEF and A7-BEB are in maintenance so probably getting the Q suite. It will be interesting to see how the low density B777-300ER will be as BEB has 24 C seats.

The seat map for my first Q suite flight AMS-DOH in Jan has now changed back to regular 777. Qr cargo now shows the 77N on Monday & thursdays!! Very dissapointing but still plenty time for further changes!!

Where on the QR cargo site do you look to see what equipment a passenger flight is going to be?

On main page, Check Routing. Just put route and dates and it will show plane type.

I noted it's not changing for AKL route, it's just B777 and on the day it shows nothing.

I am watching this avidly as am flying to AKL in 3 weeks. However I suspect that the 2 Q Suite flights last week were some kind of one off so trying not to get my hopes up too much. I have no idea though why they would have done 2 flights as a one off!!!
