Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Yes. SIN-DOH-OSL in R class rebooked to KUL-DOH-ARN in D class the following day free of charge.
They did warn me though that they would only let me make this change free of charge once - as is the norm for involuntary changes. I could also have chosen SIN-DOH-OSL (or anything else within 500 miles) on another day to keep the QSuites, but for me the convenience of the routing was more important.

And just for the record, I put my BA Silver (OW Sapphire) number in the booking.
So this was not because of some QR elite status or anything. I doubt the BA status has anything to say.

You could also try calling their Qatar office directly (or other countries, maybe UK?).

The Australian office consistenly gave me the same answer, different agents (the first time I just checked my options, the second time I actually made the change).
It’s fine, but I do appreciate your help here! So I just called the Doha office, and though the agent was exponentially friendlier than his US counterparts, he was unable to change me into any other flights without a hefty change fee in addition to the additional fare. Perhaps there was also a bit of a language barrier. I’m gonna try the Australian office this even and hopefully my luck will change with them!

Fingers crossed! By the way, the “Australian” agents had an Indian accent.
Maybe the Indian callcenter works just as well.

So just got off the phone with the Aussie customer service rep and IT WORKED!!!! Seriously, thank you so much! I had to push my initial flight out of JFK up to the flight from the evening before and change me to an I class fare (QR702 instead of QR704), but that means (barring equipment change) i'll have qsuites on QR830 and I don't haver to deal with the dingy BA term 7 at JFK and can use the AA flagship lounge at T8 pre-flight. On the return, the qsuite flight out of BKK didn't really have any good connections with either flight to JFK, but the guy was able to put me on the earlier flight. All in all, great things! So the customer service rep did have to email a supervisor and had to call me back. I was a bit weary at this point, but sure enough, in about 45 mins he called me back (and it was a number that seemed to be from Ahmedabad, India so you're def right about their Australian callcenters being in India). So I guess what this means for ft'ers is if you get bumped off a Qsuite flight and want to change your flights free of charge, call the Australian customer service line since we have two proven instances of it working.

Awesome!! That’s really good to hear!
Seems like I got extremely lucky there, I only called the Australian office because their European offices were closed and the US callcenter had long wait times.

Are the Q-Suites on HKG route yet?

Hi,
I wonder if the 777 flying DOH-HKG have got Q-suites yet or are they still luck of the draw if you get them?
Looking at flights for Jan 2019 and so far haven’t tried the suites yet!!!

Book the sale from ARN, ARN mostly has QSuites:
QR: ARN-HKG approx Ł1250

Use ExpertFlyer to make sure you have QSuites (checking the seat map is a free feature and doesn't require a subscription).

Thank you for that. I was looking at the sale price, which is what got me thinking about booking it.
Will look at expertflyer.

But generally, as you can see from this thread, it is all still a certain gamble. SIN was supposed to be QSuites-only, and then they suddenly reduced it to one out of four flights or so a month before departure.
Just book with as many QSuites segments as you can and set up aircraft change alerts on ExpertFlyer (paid feature).

Just don't lose sight of the fact that every month, more aircraft are equipped with QSuites. Chances go up continuously, though obviously not as fast as we would like.

apparently all 815/816/817/818 are all QSuite config. My qr815/0325 was a QSuite when I booked, 2 weeks prior to flying out they changed it to a old J, then 5 days prior to flying out resumed to a QSuite config

After comparing back to back red-eyes, first on the A351 Qsuite and second on the old Minipod 777s, I must emphasise, how much more comfortable the 777s are for sleeping. Granted, there was only one passenger on each row of 2-2-2, which proved to make a very comfy flight. I couldn't get any sleep with the footwell of the Qsuite, and I keep banging my knees on the table (grrr).

A big overnight change to DOH-SIN; my May flight which went from A351 to A359 (w/o QSuites) a few weeks back is now back on the A351. It looks like a lot of flights in May shifted around a bit; still a bunch of 359's, but less then there were a few days ago.

I flew the Q suites on 777 (BLR-DOH) and A350 (DOH-JFK) and I much much preferred the 777 over the A350. More comfort, more space, and the washrooms are more spacious.

Also, the DOH-JFK leg was 14 hrs non stop, and Qatar did not provide any mattress, so it was quite uncomfortable to sleep for such a long time. Since BA and Emirates do provide a mattress, I will choose them anytime over Qatar for such a long flight.

Food wise and service wise, the Qatar flight DOH-JFK was quite a disaster. Maybe their staff need to undergo some training at BA or Emirates. They served the drinks nearly an hour after take off, then the entree after another hour then the main course after another hour!
