Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Given they will start retiring the A380s in 6 years, I doubt any refit will actually happen.
and add to that that the current 787s are supposedly going to go to Air Italy

As purple1addict mentioned, it was originially mentioned as a tweak for the narrower cabin but has since seemingly been parked. We've also then had the news about the retirement of the A380 when realistically indicates that it is unlikely to be refitted.

The 788s are going to Air Italy - there are meant to be 789s arriving, but AFAIK this is unlikely to happen on schedule [which I believe was this Summer]. Presumably the 789s were intended to have the tweaked QSuite, but since that proved impossible we don't know if it'll be the same seat from the 788 or something new again.

So the long-term plan for QR is to have Qsuite as the only premium cabin, no more first class?

That's what AAB said when he first announced the QSuites, long before one was ever installed. Having flown in them a number of times, it makes perfect sense to me. As a J product, it is far superior, even superior to many F cabins. I think that QR F will vanish with the 380 retirement.

I don't disagree, as I think Qsuite is certainly on par with if not superior to current BA F. And I was underwhelmed by QR F when I was upgraded into it DOH-SYD. But I am disappointed to see F vanishing.

DOH-AKL and AKL-DOH just swapped out to Q Suites, no email from ExpertFlyer even though I setup alerts....edit, just received an email now!

The only one that is old style 2-2-2 is the CPH-DOH leg. I'd actually wouldn't mind it staying that way so I can do a direct comparison.

One other question. If displaying movies etc from your phone to the IFE, is the only way to do this via HDMI port? Is it an MHL port? Also full size or mini-HDMI?

Qsuite gone Doh-Ams

Just booked a flight from Doha to Amsterdam 13 may.
The floor map on Qatar shows an old 777 layout (only 4 or 5 rows in 2 2 2) and no longer the QSuite setup.
Mare these flights being changed back to old ones?
Does anyone know ?

Full Hdmi plug in the Qsuite and USB-A plug for charging

You need a MHL adapter for you phone with USB-C

I would be sad to see F go away though. As good as Qsuite is, I don't find it superior to F. I am not necessarily a fan of doors as such (though appreciate it in Business Class), but do feel that sitting on the seat nearer to the aisle felt to be a bit claustrophobic. Additionally hitting the tray table with my knees and having a footwell is obnoxious, two things that don't typically happen in F seats.

Give me a choice between QR/BA F and Qsuite, I'd take QR/BA F any day.

Reset the EF alerts as a few more changes are likely before Xmas.
