Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

Booked J award in April on QR 657 CMB-DOH first leg to include QR 725 next day. QR 657 is not a 777, but QR 665 which leaves a bit later is. I know equipment swaps are common - but should we switch our flight to 665 hoping that it remains a 777? The strange thing is that EF shows the seatmap for that flight as a 2-2-2 configuration.

Also as a couple - we currently have window seats booked for the QR 725 flight as it is a daytime flight. But it really seems like everyone thinks the middle seats are worthwhile. Even for a day flight?

Thanks in advance!

As a couple, unless you or your spouse hates climbing over the person in the aisle seat, I prefer the window as I particularly enjoy looking outside.

+1 I am raising the bar since my flights are scheduled second week of April. 2 more 77L refurbished by that time seems doable to me. Question remains though: is AKL next in line (outside accidentally getting a QSuited 77L here and there)?

That was my first post, btw. Thanks everyone for spreading wisdom during my past lurking months

Just landed in Houston after 16 hours in qsuites with my partner.

Absolutely surpassed expectations. HUGE suite with doors that close and cubbies and all. I am a big guy and went in a tad worried about seat width. Rest assured, there is tons of room. It honestly felt as large as CX F suites with the added constraint of a footwell.

But the foot cubby is much larger than the ones on regular business, and I really didn’t feel constrained in terms of side sleeping, back sleeping etc.

Service was fine though a little hit or miss. It was actually fascinating to compare service between us we were sharing a suite but had a different person on each side of the aisle.

My lady was a bit rough around the edges but got the job done. Food was fine but didn’t feel like a terribly wide selection.

I ordered the steak sandwich and thought it was good. Also, I ordered from the “snack menu” paper insert and be warned the portions are TINY. As in one or two bites per item.

Overall Qsuites are totally awesome

Best Q Suite Seats for Couple

Hi All,

My wife and I will be flying this spring from LHR to Maldives (Via Doha). Our first leg is on the 350-1000 and we originally selected 7E and 7F. I was told that while the rear smaller cabin adds more of a "privacy" aspect, right behind is Economy class.

Can someone please recommend if those seats, 11 (or was it 12?) E & F are good for privacy or should we be dine in row 7?

On the Doha - Maldives flight, we are going on the 350-900 with seats 3E and 3F.

Based on all my info noted above, can anyone please give me the best rows to choose from for both our flights (including for the return flight, currently the same seats as depart).

Much appreciated!

OK, I've had my first trip with this much hyped contraption. Ended up in 9A on a 35K and also tried 9C(?) across the isle.

The single seatss basically suck. I did not like this, it is too cramped, too much space used on physical things that provide little use. Also, the wedge shape of the table means it has to be fully pulled out to be unfolded, which eats a lot of space and takes away the flexibility of the layout of the table on the 787 and 359's.

Having had a bit more sleep and time to think, here's what it all adds up to: I like space. On the 787's there is enough room to to a waltz behind row 5, on the 350 without the office cubicles there is still space to stretch, on the A380 there is the lounge. Same goes for the difference in seating, on the 787/350 without cubicles/380 the seat is more open and if you need the table you pull it out as far as you need. With the cubicles you are given less personal space, your legs get shoehorned into the slot under the next seat, there is shelving of questionable usage intruding into the space all over, a small stool is made to attempt to make up for it and the table is either folded away or fully into your space. Adding the door only adds to the feeling of lack of space. The isle feels much more cramped and the standing room where the L2 door is has been taken away. I really dislike this. This is just basically a gilded cattle class.

All in all, I see no value in this, and 35K is no only list of aircraft to avoid just as much as the 333.

-A

Was just opped up on two flights in a row (can't believe my luck) and about 10min before boarding the first flight I connected the dots and realized seat number 4J meant I was on Q-Suites!

First time in Qatar J, and I was very impressed by the Q-Suites. One design flaw I think is the headrest - since it is so tall, I couldn't use the full length of the bed without having my shoulders uncomfortably press up against the it. So my feet were touching the wall when fully stretched out (aircraft was an A350-900)

The second flight was on the 787-800 which I thought was a little better for sleeping. Both great seats, but I think I'd take Q-Suites over the old product anyday.

First time flying in Qsuites SYD-DOH.
i politely asked if I could move to a empty center pair and if I could try out the double bed, the staff were happy to oblige.
I must say I had a really comfortable 9hr sleep, pretty impressed with the suites.

I am getting a weird seatmap for my flight (614, DOH-ISB, on Feb 20) - the seatmap shows QSuites - both on the Qatar website and expert flier - but only rows 1-6. The cabin behind the second door (rows 7-11) is missing. Any idea if this is actually a QSuites plane or some sort of bug?

Maybe it's one of the high density 77W's which has been reconfigured with Qsuites.

I just checked it on Amadeus and it is also showing the Q Suites map, but only from rows 1-6. kl1987 could be right

My flight from JNB - DOH on the 15th February is showing as a QSuite layout now. I am in 5K at the moment, any reason to change back to 8K or 10K? Any merits to being in the front section over the back?

Edit: on the 77W that is...

Excited to learn that my upcoming LAX-DOH will be on QSuite (received email this morning)!
Now I have to look for the best window seat in J.
