Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

DOH-LAX Q Suite Start Date?

We will be flying DOH-LAX on Oct 8th. Anyone think the Q Suites would be operational by then?

Somehow I felt it differently at my recent flights on Qsuite A350. The rear-facing one is less comfortable than forwad facing one, where the latter seem to be more parallel to the horizontal. I have no objective figures to provide but that's just my feeling to share.

QR59 DOH-MUC mid August changed from LATAM A350 to 777 with Q Suite
So I will get (nearly) every aircraft type of QR fleet ... A380 (with the bar ), 777 (I like the old 2-2-2), A350 and 777 Q Suite

hi folks, i have a question about seating.

my doh-bom part of my trip is assigned the Qsuites plane now.

as a solo traveler are the rear facing seats A/K better than the front facing B/G ?

also what is your opinion of row 6 B/G .. i have been automatically assigned 6G

thank you

I’ve just seen that our flight to BKK in september has changed to Qsuites. There are theee of us travelling on 2 bookings. If we can get a quad will we be able to open up half of the quad or will that disrupt the fourth seat in the quad too much so they won’t allow us to do this? Any guidance would be great.

Bah, we are a family of 4 travelling on 830 June 23rd and I see on expertflyer that from the very next day Qsuites are available.
Booked the flight with a tiny little hope that we might get the Qsuites, but alas. However flight chosen due to arrival time in BKK and at least that haven't changed (knock on wood)

I’d prefer the forward facing window seat as it is not as away from the window as it seems. And the side storage is on the window side instead of next to the aisle, so it feels safer personally. Lastly I somehow found the level of rear facing bed strange.

Notwithstanding QR’s habit of changing aircraft types, I seem to have hit the jackpot with my promo biz fare from LHR to HKG return in October. The DOH - HKG leg and vice versa have just been changed to a Q suite 777 (seated 3K both sectors). Coupled with the fact that I get to experience the A380 bar ex LHR (seated 11K) and the DOH-LHR sector (QR001) also being a Q suite A359 (seated 3K), I think things have turned out pretty well. Not bad for GBP1,413 all in.

Good for you! You can try different aircraft as well as seats! Don’t forget to enjoy the oneworld lounges in HKG too, they are among the best IMO. Enjoy!

Please don't count your chickens just yet as there's plenty of time for QR to switch aircraft again before October, but good luck! Possible I'm on at least one of those flights as also booked the same fare to HKG in October too.
