Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Hi all, new to forum here, booked a flight on QR8 LHR - DOH late this year for family of 4 of us.
Got our travel agent to lock in the Qsuite for all of us (row 1 & 2) on the 777.
Just wonder if QR decides to change flight (i.e. A350-1000), wonder will it also have Qsuite onboard?
Thanks

The A350-1000 is only being installed with QSuites. Your aircraft could be changed at any time to a plane without QSuites.

Booked some time ago. Original B777 seatmap in MMB showed Qsuites, but since being replaced with a 359 the map has reverted to the standard 359 seat layout.

It's not the end of the world, just irritating as I was looking forward to my first Qsuites flight. I'm lucky enough to afford Business class for leisure, it could be a lot worse!

Currently both LAX and IAH get the B777-200LR while DFW has the B777-300ER. If i remember correctly, AAB said that the 777LR will be refurbished last so I would aim for DFW.

Does anyone know (avg) how long they are taking to retrofit aircrafts? are they scaling the retrofitting once they get the know-how perfect?
I want to estimate how long they'll take to reach EZE, lol. I guess it will be one of the last routes to get them so..

Well... the current Qsuite is only going 77W/77L/A359/A35K, that gives us 135 aircraft, of which 74 currently in service and 61 orders.

The refit was announced nearly 18 months ago, so far we've got 10 aircraft. Based on that the retrofits will be compete in 18 years.

(All very rough maths)
GalaxyChris and Traveller999 like this.
