Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Hi Everyone - FT newb here, so sorry if this is a completely idiotic question. I flew LAX -> EVN last year via Doha on Qatar. 16 hours is a long time in economy, so for my upcoming trip (same destination, in June) I've booked business all the way through. I know Q Suites will make their way into the 77L eventually, but on QR cargo there is no differentiation for an updated 77L vs. the old 2-2-2 config. So here's my stupid question: Does the plane going in for maintenance mean it's been overhauled, or is it just general aircraft maintenance? I am inclined to think no, as they would likely announce the LAX - DOH route is now furnished with Q Suites on their site, but I read that a QR739 77L has returned from maintenance:
"Qatar Airways Boeing 777-2DZLR A7-BBC, which has been under maintenance at Doha since 16th March, returned to service this morning operating QR739 Doha – Los Angeles." (via the Qatar Source).
Thanks!

I am scheduled to fly QR007/008 in June 2018. Originally it was scheduled with 777 Qsuite but recently changed to A350. When I checked the seat map, it is not a Qsuite configuration. I know that Qatar is using A350 Qsuite A7-ALY for QR1/2 now and if I look at the roster for June 2018, the QR1/2 will be replace by A350-1000. Will it be possible that A7-ALY will be used for QR007/008. Anyone know if Qatar will be receiving more A350 in the next two months?

I was able to select middle QSuites seats for 2 passengers online on QR701 day of booking.
Booked an AA aware ticket CMB-DOH-JFK with DOH-JFK being on QR701 for 2 pax. AA phone agent was not able to book the middle seats on QR701. Using QR record locator I was able to go online and had access to all of the middle seats except for 2D/G and 3E/F. Selected middle seats and got email confirmation from Qatar with confirmation of the seats. Flight is in 5-6 weeks.

On a recently trip I was lucky enough to get the Qsuite in both directions, so I tried both the aisle and window options of the "singletons seat choices".
Overall, I'm impressed with the seat - stacks of storage options, and much better foot space as compared to, for example, the 787 seats. The TVs are huge, and the privacy with the door is absolutely fantastic. Though I don't think those with claustrophobia will like it - the BA Club World window seats, for example, give you a much greater feeling of space in front of you, even if they're more cramped sidewise and not quite so private. If like me you're a fan of window seats, be aware that both the window and the aisle seats effectively have two windows each. It's just that with the aisle seats (B/J) you're a little further away from the windows. You can see the difference on my somewhat rubbishy photos below. The difference is of course the forward/backward facing aspect. Those who like the BA Club rear facing window seats will find themselves on familiar ground. In all honesty, I only noticed the rear-facing aspect during taxi. Because of the higher walls around you, I had no sensation at all of being rear-facing once airborne. Personally, I prefer sleeping slightly head-up, so the rear facing window would be the winning choice for me on an overnight flight.
So these two are the "aisles" - you can see how you still get two windows which aren't THAT far away...
And these are of the true "window" seat...
HOWEVER, there is one further design aspect of the Q-suite which I'd identify as one of only two significant flaws in the seat, which comes into play here. In the rear-facing "true-window" seats (A/K) you have a little bit of floor space between your seat and the door, in front of the buddy-seat/storage locker thing. This is ideal for putting your shoes while the seat is reclined in bed mode. The forward facing seats (B/J) do not have such an area of floor space, and the seat will not go into bed mode with your shoes on the floor in front of it. Not wanting to put my shoes on the buddy-seat (close to your head, and not hygienic) I found that the only place to put them was in the foot well, which was a real annoyance while trying to sleep. Consequently, I would never again voluntarily put myself in an aisle Q-Suite on an overnight flight.
The other design flaw is the little seat and light control switch beside the seat back when upright, and easily-reachable when in bed-mode. It's INCREDIBLY bright, and shines right in your face if you're sleeping that way round, so again, a bit of an annoyance...
This is the offending control while the seat was upright during bright daylight. Imagine it at night, in your face!
The suites do come with a truly turbo-charged set of control buttons, for those that enjoy spending half the flight working out the meaning of the graphics!
And finally, just to comment that on my daylight flight back from Doha, there was a rather fun addition to the usual catering arrangements. Don't know if this is just for Qsuite aircraft, or more general, but it was a nice little twist...

There is a small space in the forward facing seats to put shoes located between the arm rest and the console with the faux marble top at the floor level. It is not very intuitive as you can't see it unless you bend down. I'm hoping that version 2.0 of the seat (currently in design) will relocate some of the components under the footwell to make that space available for storage.

I was able to book the middle seats online for my wife and child. No problem and super easy. I am on a separate reservation and i was not able to book an adjoining middle seat in the 4some quad. I called Qatar and explained the situation and where and why i wanted a middle seat and after a brief wait i had my seat. When i called last week they gave me the “under airport control” line as well. So it must depend on who u talk to.
Now fingers crossed the 4th seat in our quad stays empty!

I happened to book another trip that includes QR8 LHR-DOH with Qsuites, and for this trip, QR's web site allows me to choose center seats for the two of us on the PNR. The trip booked earlier that also has on QR8 still shows all center seats blocked. I am puzzled as to why the same flight has all center seats blocked on one date but all available on another date. In both cases, most of the J cabin appears available, EF shows J9. (EF seat map shows all center seats blocked on all Qsuite-equipped QR8 flights I checked, including the one where QR's web site allows me to select them.)

Late to realise but QR002 switched to A350-1000 with qsuites in early june! very excited I took the qsuites on the Incheon route last month and it felt bizarre not seeing anyone else! Then I decided to cry my eyes out watching a sad movie since no one could see me and of course the person sitting behind me chose the peak of my crying period to stand up and fiddle with his bag in the overhead compartment for 10 minutes..... All in all, the new product is excellent in providing for different types of travellers. I was worried about space but it's incredibly spacious in real life, and the footwell didn't seem cramped! (although I am barely 5 feet so that's a non-issue even with the A340/330 Diamond seats)

Per US Credit Card Guide, the next Qsuite destination is Shanghai! And there is pretty good award availability (up to 4).
