Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Why would they retire the 320s? They need them for plenty of short/less busier routes. I doubt that the blockade will last forever.

Most A320s already have flatbeds; United Airlines J-class style.

As per the Qatar source, A7-ALY, an A359 with Q suites fitted was delivered the same day as the first A350-1000. Wonder if QR will guarantee/put it on a specific route soon.

I've read somewhere that all A350 that remain to be delivered to QR will be equipped with QSuites.

Most don’t have flatbeds and some of those have the AlMaha interiors.

The A330/A340 fleet are on the way out, it's not only the 5 to Meridiana. The A7-AD* series A320s are starting to leave in the next few months. The A350 refit won't be for a while.

I love the space on the side that AAB is sitting in when it the set is laid down as a bed, gives a lot of space for the upper body.

Sam's not small, but AAB looks surprisingly comfortable!

Just as a datapoint and to show how opinions can differ, two of my staff went to Doha (from LHR) on a couple of separate occasions and picked flights with QSuites. Two very different individuals (a male in his late 40s and a lady in her early 30s) both disliked the seat, much to my surprise. They were both mentioning how they prefer the airy spaciousness of the A380, with the added bonus of the lounge area.

I suppose that from LHR we are spoilt for choice, with QR4 (A380) and QR8 (777 with QSuites) leaving 50 minutes apart (not to mention the other A380 and the 787 in the morning, or the two A350 in the evening). So, to each their own!

I may need to get to DOH next week and if so will give the QSuite a go for the sake of trying, so will have an opinion of my own soon. I thought it was interesting to get the opinion of other people and find out that not everybody is raving about the new product though. De gustibus...

I am seeing QR1/2 operated by 36J A359 equipped with QSuite on March 2/3/4. Doesn't seem to have a special designation on QR Cargo tho.

I'm a Qatar Airways enthusiast, having flown in Qatar business between the US and Thailand and the US and India numerous times over the past couple of years. The airline is fantastic, and, by far, has the best overall business class out there. I agree with the numerous posts complaining about lack of consistency with flight crews, but that is the only complaint with which I would agree; however, coming from a country with an airline culture where the only consistency in service is mediocrity (at best), I can live with this one complaint. When it comes to the Q Suites, I have a different opinion, however. I flew in a Q Suite last night for the first time from Doha to Bangalore, and found the seats to be closed in, and the cabin to be dark and rather drab. Don't get me wrong, it is still an excellent product, and I can certainly understand the enthusiasm around the novelty of having a fully-enclosed suite in business class; however, I much prefer the more open feel of the A350's 1-2-1 configuration...I find the seats to be more comfortable; the ease of entry and exit to the seat far superior; and ease of service for the flight attendants to also be better. The cabin is much brighter and appealing, and I do not believe privacy to be an issue, especially once the A350 seat is reclined. To each his own, as they say.

I agree with what you say Aventura 100% and it is not every day that I agree with AA flyers as some of you may know.

Hi all,

This is, as it turns out, my first post on the QR forum.

I am meant to fly DOH-ICN early May, but on the odd once-weekly 8:00 AM departure.

This flight is not being publicized as getting Qsuites along with the daily ICN rotation, but what do you feel is the likelihood it will have them in early May (either through the overall retrofit of the 777 fleet, or from using one of the planes involved in the daily rotation)?

QR site not showing proper aircraft

hi,

i am am booked on the CDG DOH flight in July. Both expertflyer and qcargo are showing that qr42 would be flowin in the 777 with q suites however the seat assignment on Qatar website says it would be the a380. While I understand that there can be last minute changes not able to understand why the aircraft shown are different so far out. I assumed expertflyr took data from Qatar airways directly.

Assumin it is the a380 I have assigned seats when should I check back to see that the seats are not reassigned by Qatar once they change the flight to 777. Any inputs would be great.

Cheers

@mcrw00: Likelihood is very low and you shouldn't count on having the QSuite until you are inside the airplane and actually seating in it. Qatar is bad at aircraft consistency and sadly the QSuite roll out is rather slow.

@CCU_Flyer: CDG will have 12 weekly A380 flights from 02MAY18 to 30SEP18, up from 7 weekly currently. The new a380 flights are replacing the 777 with QSuite every day except Tuesday and Wednesday.
