Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Even the non-Qsuite A359 aren't getting retrofitted yet, perhaps they will get the new Qsuite when it's revealed and when the cabin is due for refurbishment?
Qsuite 2 will be unveiled at ITB 24, so hopefully they have it ready to go next year (unlike LH)

Fully agree! Fun thing is that I have yet to experience a Q Suite live - even my most recent trip FCO-DOH-HKG-BKK-DOH-FCO was all non-Q Suite, but an eclectic mix of their own old and various second-hand aircraft. Qatar is joke, no better than Lufthansa in terms of product consistency.

I would suggest SIN instead of BKK if you want to try Qsuite, it's almost 100% Qsuite (even when their preliminary schedule wasn't Qsuite, it was changed to Qsuite when they finalized their schedule). Perhaps with SQ based there, they need to ensure they have a better product to sway people to take QR.

77W Qsuites forward or rear cabin?

My wife and I are flying on the Qsuites 77W ATL-DOH and DOH-ATL. We actually both prefer window seats; on ATL-DOH we're in 5K/6J. On DOH-ATL, we're currently in 8K/9J. However, 3A/4B and 5A/6B are also avaialble. Do we stick with the rear cabin, or move to fwd cabin? And if fwd cabin is better, do we go with 3/4 or 5/6? THANK YOU!

So I asked Dall-E what they think the QSuite2 would look like.
Not sure why we would need quad screens in a single suite though...

My preference would be 3A and 5A. Theres no reason to sit in adjacent rows, youll be isolated in your own suite. 3A/5A gives you both the most privacy and are closer to the windows.

Definitely AI 'hallucinations' for sure. Why would you put a chair in the middle of a room like that? It would be a bed. And the second one looks like a call center with a seat in the middle and a bar, lol!

Looking for more clarity on QR's award availability. Currently looking for QSuites from NA to SE Asia via DOH.

Looking on EF I see the middle duo seats as "blocked", so they are not booked. I see dates with 20+ unsold J on both legs. However QR still prices these at "Flexi"

Should I expect the price to drop closer to departure date? Simulating with closer-in dates, I see no seats selling at the regular 95K it should cost.

Starting to lose hope with this, it seems as though QR's award availability has become much tighter. Even 330 days out I do not find much.

Hi. Firstly, seats showing as untaken or blocked in EF is not a representation of ticket availability. Some tickets do not include advance seat selection, and some people don't select seats in advance. Plus once all unblocked seats have been selected even people with confirmed tickets that do include seat selection won't be able to pick a seat. So 20+ unallocated seats in EF does not in any way indicate that there are 20+ unsold seats in that cabin on that flight.

Secondly, redemption availability is separate from revenue availability. QR may only make say 2 seats on a flight available for redemption. At the extremes this means that in a 42 seat cabin, there could be 40 revenue seats available but nothing for redemption as the 2 reward seats have already been booked, or vice versa (although the latter would be very extreme and unlikely).

Flights are still generally very full now. So any normal price redemption tickets may have already gone, or QR may be rationing availability when they know they can get cash for the seats instead. QR do not guarantee fixed numbers of redemption seats on every flight.

More seats may open up close to departure if the flight hasn't sold as well as expected, although there are no guarantees. Or you may have better luck booking each sector separately, and being very flexible about which airports you use in the US and Asia.

Ah okay. I will say you really dont notice after takeoff and the plus of having the window right next to you outweighs the minus of sitting backwards. Im a window fan, so its more important to me to have window I can peer out of.

So going back to your original question, I would prefer the front cabin versus the mini-cabin. I know some folks prefer the mini but Ive had noisy people destroy the peace in mini cabins in the past. There also is a whole psychology around meal choice that says to sit closer to the front, but I cant with that. Im just happy to be sitting in the pointy end of the plane. I guarantee they will serve something delicious regardless of where you sit.

Crew split the cabin into sections for service. Usually there are 2 sections in J, on the A380 there are 3. So it's not the case that food orders are taken from the front of the business cabin to the back, and that those at the back will have to make do with what's left. Some crew start part way back with their own allocation of dishes from the full menu, and those sat at the front of a rear crew section may even have more choice than those at the back of a front section (potentially the row in front of them). It is also the case that the better crews will take orders from QR plats etc first in their section. And where a crew member's allocation may have run out when they get to you, they will then check with their colleagues as others may still have the dish you want. So it's really not worth overthinking it

100% agree. We all know different crews can result in different service, so its just not worth fretting over the service order. As I said, I cant with that.
