Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Thanks for the response. Working with them on chat box now to try and find a re route option. Technically no other options are within 500 miles of ORD. While I don't really mind the 2-2-2 config, my SO is very excited for the double bed and has been for some time now. So I really want to make it work at least on the way there.

Woof. Just got off the phone with QR. Checked with supervisor and was told unable to change the departure point of the ticket even if there were availability out of any US departure point (which there is not). So basically just hope it somehow gets re-swapped to Q suites I guess.

I tried this via chat and Twitter multiple times, everytime I was met with the link to the Dining page on the QR website.

I am on an AA codeshare, so I know the chances are almost zero, but if we get swapped I'm at least going to call AA and see if they'll move us. Another swap of Chicago today. That makes 14/24 (58%) swaps in February, every one of them 24 hours before the flight. January saw 10/31 (32%) with most of those being clustered near the end of the month.

My seat map is now showing as 2-2-2 on 5 March. Even though they are still advertising it as Q suite when buying tickets.
Iven called and chatted half a dozen times to no avail. Seems like it just is what it is. Can't find any availability on other airlines to switch to in F/J on my dates anyway so I'm just eating it

Now that I know Qatar swaps 50% of their Qsuite flights to their 2-2-2 planes, I would definitely choose the ER A380 if I had to choose between the two. At least I would know that I was getting what I paid for. I've had 2 of the 4 Qsuite flights swapped exactly 24 hours prior to departure. Exactly when there are no other flights to choose from.

QR have swapped 50% of the flights in your itinerary, and that is of course very disappointing and annoying.
But they simply do not have enough 2-2-2 aircraft in the fleet to swap out 50% of all Qsuite aircraft. You have been unlucky. And with the A350s coming back into service now, swaps will reduce as pressure on the fleet reduces. This will also give more flexibility to send those 2-2-2 aircraft for overdue refits to Qsuite.
The situation has of course been bad (be thankful you didn't get an A330...), and some routes appear to have been hit more than others. Presumably due to travel and turnaround times on certain routes, once it happens it sticks for a few days with the same aircraft, but it will improve now.
I'm not making excuses for QR. But medium term the maths are going to improve from now on, and that's good for everyone.

Even by QR standards I find this hard to believe given they are still selling QSuites the entire month. The last minute swap is one thing, but to announce it and still sell it is another.

Well 1st March is indeed Qsuites so that isn't true. Hopefully they meant QR725/726 will be Qsuites for the entire month of March! Flying 725 in March so I've been tracking this closely.

777-200 Q-Suites
I understand that currently there are only two 777-200 planes that are not Q-suite. Does anyone know if that is accurate, and if it is, when those two planes might get the seat upgrade?
