Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I just got my flight QR962 DOH to DPS next February changed from 787 to 777 Qsuite...
Maybe a sign that DPS will get Qsuite more permanently.

You mean it went from 2-2-2 to QSuite to 2-2-2?

If you get the QSuite change email then no problem.. if you don't get the email, you will need to get them to check with the "back office".. I'm not sure how much they poke around but I assume all they would verify is the QSuite change.

If you mean you want a free change because it went FROM 2-2-2 to QSuite and you want to change back to 2-2-2 then absolutely no chance. I cringe at anyone trying to explain that to the QR contact centre...

Hahahaha - conversations with the contact centre are generally always a little 'challenging'.

It has always been 2/2/2 since I booked. My question was basically, do they poke around to see if there has been a change or do they just let you change from non Q-suite to Q-suite?
I'm attempting, unashamedly, to try and switch flights, for free, because I prefer the later, day time flight.

I don't think it'll work - they always ask if you had the "email" (they can see if it was sent from their end anyway) - if not, they get back office to verify. So I don't think that'll work.

I don't see how that would work. Otherwise anyone could just book the cheapest flight and then call in to change it to what they actually want.

I will not count on it, Qatar sell/pretend a Qsuite on this flight, but the seatmap is not a Qsuite at all and the QR cargo show 77N, who is not a Qsuite 777.

I have one ticket on the 23 October flight, and my seatmap (below) look very different than Qsuite

QR960 Seatmap

And now the actual QR Website selling a "fake" Qsuite, your "private sanctuary" in 2x2x2 ?

Anyone know where to find the actual policy regarding Qsuites to Non-Qsuites equipment swaps when on a redemption ticket (QR avios)? Does there need to be award availability to switch back into a Qsuites flight or will they put you on any flight with Qsuites (+/- 21 days?).

Thoughts on whether its worth it to pay to pre-select seats as a couple?

4 QSuite legs (FRA->DOH->JNB then CPT->DOH->AMS) for $4k in R or $4.6k in I.

Is it worth paying the $600 more for seat selection? Seems pretty steep given all the seats look pretty good and maybe we would be able to pick some honeymoon seats at check-in anyway?

Unless you're rolling in it that $600 will go pretty far towards a nicer hotel or meals/activities in South Africa. I know which I would choose - but then again neither my OH or I are bothered about whether we are sat together!

If you have status (even the lowest tier) from any OW airline then you should be able to select seats for free after entering your FF #.

Is there a difference between the size of the Qsuite on 777s and A350s? I would have thought the narrower A350 body would mean a smaller suite, but I can't find much info on it.

How to assure "couples" seat during booking?

Since you have to talk to an agent to get those center "couples" seats, is it best to do the whole booking with an agent?

(That is to say if I book and then call, if there are no couples seats I'd want to change the travel date to one with them, which might not be as easy as if I didn't already have a booking.)
