Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Just checked in online for my first ever flight with QR (CDG-DOH-CGK)… few hours later, the so « feared » email arrives and my cdg doh flight has no more Qsuite less than 48h before the flight makes it harder for the passenger to modify but I m thinking I ll cancel the ticket and go with some cheap economy option because if I spend that much money on QR it was to get Qsuite experience. such a disappointment. I m not used to buy business class tickets so this was a really much expected flight!

Thats a real bummer. I would be so mad also. I have Q Suites LAX-DOH coming up and also first ever QR A380 in F DOH-BKK. I am worried both could switch. I mean the A350 problems maybe messed up my LA flight but I would think such a long flight only goes out with Q Suites.. I hope. Long and pretty premium route too I think. And then to BKK I think it will be the A380 with out a change b/c that would cause some issues rebooking folks in F so I think I will be ok. But totally feel your pain. Maybe it will have a swap back and you will luck out. Can you go the next day instead? Where does 914 go to? Thats to AKL? You said 20 hours. I'm sure you're exaggerating a little there but the longest Aus flight is like 15 or maybe 15.5 to Mel no? I think DOH-DFW shows as their longest at 16:45.

Each to their own however, as a datapoint, similar happened to me a few days ago. Less than 24 hours notice of aircraft to non-Qsuite then changed back. Even the 77W 2-2-2 config is much, much better than any economy class seat.

Wow that is crazy. Even with an hour or so to stretch legs in ADL. If you want to make that trip AKL-UK with 1 stop one can do AKL-SIN-LHR so just the SIN stop? Like on BA. Or thats not a possibility.

Not til 2023 but I need to figure a way from AKL to Australia. Can I buy just AKL-ADL on QR? I was looking at maybe trying out EK F for the first time and having my first ever shower at 40K feet. Not sure if in 2023 they will bring the A380 back on ADL-SYD though.

Can we see a pattern/airframe pair here, when QR "selflessly" swap airframe with QSuite to non QSuite, i.e, 77W QSuite always swap to 77W 2-2-2?
Or, is it just random?

~30hr travel times aren't unfamiliar for that route particularly if chasing good fares or miles. At least if in J/F and you can sleep when you want to, it's incrementally worse than 24hrs 😅

I believe you can now that Australia's dropped their testing requirement. Though there's no guarantee that QR will be flying that route next year

I flew EK F AKL-SYD a while back and they said they don't normally allow the shower spa to be used for flights of that length, but the incredible crew made an exception for me and it was a blast. If they do bring it back, there's no guarantee they will do it again though, just for a data point.

Wild, crazy amount of time. I knew SYD-SIN-LHR was long but this QR option from AKL to ADL to DOH to LHR that would be insane. Even maybe too much for me and normally give me seat alone and a lie flat and I am super happy.

Thats nice they let you shower. I am looking at either that route or maybe BKK-HKG to try A380 F and shower. Its only $445 US BKK-HKG in F. Just have to wait until Asia fully opens.

Whilst opinions vary, the 2-2-2 on the 777's is the most comfortable seat ive ever flown on.
and whilst the lack of a "suite" means less privacy, the older seats feel much more spacious.

Is there a time line for Q-suite to be retrofitted on all 777?

Bassinet seats

I am flying on the 77W from DOH to LAX. I am under the impression the suites with a bassinet like 12B are blocked, and EF shows the seats as blocked and not occupied. Anyone know when Qatar will release those seats/let me book them? I’m not flying with a baby I just prefer that area of the cabin.

I think @m0hamed's point was that the QR 380 doesn't have Q Suite; thus Q Suites (post 1 June) are only available into other Australian cities, until/unless an additional flight is added, or a 380 gets subbed out.

I'm flying on an A35K (hopefully) on Saturday to Sydney, and returning on a 380 without Q Suites a couple of weeks later. I am not disappointed about this, as the 380 is still a great aircraft to fly on.

Exactly. Q Suites are gone from SYD because it returns to A388 from 1 June.
