Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Dont see any issue in a true F with privacy or a door of sleeping with out a shirt but I just find some of the blankets, duvets, etc can be itchy and never the same as your home sheet/comforter and prefer a t shirt. That said, i cant stand being hot and its why I wont fly JL. CX F will lower the AC for you no? They seem more accommodating than JL with that. JL cabin the one time I did it was a joke . Not to mention the Apex suites in J I cant stand and I dont eat sushi so it was just a HOT bust of a flight for me.

Excited for the CX F seat for sure. Will be weird with it being on QR.

In my experience, it's been hit-or-miss with CX, JL, and EY FAs lowering the cabin temperature. Although, my last CX flight we were in F and were the only passengers in F (and the flight itself was very lightly loaded). It was March 2020 and the pandemic was becoming all too real. Being the only passengers in the cabin, we had several FAs at our service and they were happy to make the cabin delightfully cool for sleeping. When I am hot and sleep shirtless, it's also too hot to have any sheet or blanket/comforter/duvet over me so I never noticed if they are scratchy on bare skin. I have yet to try JL's business suites, but I do love the food and beverage in JL F, especially ex-Japan flights where they serve Japanese beef.

Got a notification yesterday the my DOH-NBO flight had changed from Q-suite. Landed in DOH a couple of hours ago and checked on EF and the seat map has changed back to Q-suite (checked yesterday and it was showing 2-2-2 configuration.) 😬

I have the same 'problem' with my DOH-MNL flights in June and July. When I booked last month, it was a plane with Q-Suites. I looked at the seating yesterday and the plane was changed to a non-Q Suites configuration (now showing a 777-300ER with only four rows of J class. My fingers are crossed that it will change again next month. Oh well!

Loss of Booked Seats

Just noticed that seats booked (and paid for) on QR915 (28 Aug) and QR914 (22 Sep) have been removed the booking, Expert Flyer is now showing the aircraft as non-QSuite, what is the situation with any fees paid for seat bookings.....needless to say Mrs KM and son of KM are not happy

When the aircraft for your flight switches from a Q Suite to a non-Q Suite aircraft, you can call QR and ask them to switch you to a flight with Q Suites, specifically stating you intentionally sought out a Q Suites when booking your flight.

Problem there is QR only have the one route about 3/4 times a week (AKL-DOH) / (DOH-AKL)

A bit of further investigation and it seems Qatar are flying the 77W 2-2-2 during August -November 😭

Phone call as my QS seats had gone and changed to 2A/B/E on QR915 (which they wanted to charge me for) - confirmed and 2F/J/K in QR914 coming back…..which when I have just checked they haven’t put thru……surely it’s not that hard…..”help centre” more like a hindrance centre…oh well more phone calls are afoot

It's interesting, because QR914 on the 28th of August still showing QSuite. So one of them is wrong.

Dammit you’re right. Except I’m flying mid-November and it’s showing an A359 on the QR app?

i did the 2-2-2 AKL-DOH 4 years ago, and whilst it was still a great experience at that time, I was really looking forward to the Qsuites and that extra privacy, especially after visiting AS lounge beforehand on a 21 hour layover… the idea of closing a door to the world and nodding off after copious glasses of champagne sounded ideal!

2-2-2 I’d really like to avoid this time.

A few people have mentioned reaching out to the twitter team regarding changes, etc - I don’t use that though (and the response centre seems to take an age to reply)… would you expect a similarly quick response to Twitter from the QR team on Facebook messenger and the ability to change tickets for you? TIA

I am booked on Qr915 in September and was dismayed to find seat selection was non Q suite. I don't think I can do that. Solo traveller 20 hours next to someone yuck! I can't see QR swapping Qsuites back in. They are bringing the A380 to Sydney over the winter schedule. I will swap to an SQ flight or maybe fly to Sydney for the QSuite. Once you have been in a Q suite , you don't want anything less!

QR A388's do not have Q Suites so they are not flying to SYD. They are to BNE and MEL.
