Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Yes - you'll need to call QR.

Just got a message from QR letting me know that my seat assignment for my upcoming flight on QR008 on 11th July has changed. Went into the booking and the seat map is now showing the flight will have the new Q Suite.

Probably best to call them. EF shows the map. Much of it is blocked.

Just got a very favourable schedule change on my sake fare for late November. Now flying ex-LHR on QR8. The agent told me (excitedly) that I'm now getting Q-suites but the seatmap still shows the old layout.

It looks Q-suites are loaded for QR8 until October 29th, at which point the seatmap reverts to the old config.

Winter schedule not loaded yet is my guess.

Probably zilsch given that QR changed his flight schedule (there are quite a few Sake Fares ex. AMS that are affected by the change) and that Jermyn probably sweet talked them in putting him on the LHR flight rather than on the BRU/CDG/FRA flight or having to put him in an hotel.

I'm hoping JFK-DOH routes have the Qsuites by around Aug 20. Is that very likely? Which one of the 2 dailies would it be more likely to be outfitted?

fauxreals don't get your hopes up! The first 773 to be retrofitted went into Zurich towards the end of April (24th?) and has just last week had its first test flight. The next one will not take as long and as the procedures are learnt they will take less and less time. I would imagine that the time to retrofit an aircraft will come down to about 14 days, maybe even less but that is many months away.

Until there is a significant number of retrofitted aircraft there will almost certainly be no daily schedule. Just look at DOH-JFK a flight departs DOH at 02.15 and lands at DOH again 06.30 the next day. That is 28h 15 mins for that rotation. So you would need two aircraft for a daily flight! But that is not all! What are QR going to do with the aircraft between 06.30 and 02.15? It is much too expensive to have it sitting idle! Take a look at how many different destinations a single 773 flies to during a one month period using the Jet tracker on http://www.theqatarsource.com/qatara...ettracker.html . I think you may be shocked!

On the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...-row-1-qr.html thread there is a post by dkc192 that to me suggests that a retrofitted 773 may be used on the JFK route in October. But very probably not every day!

This.

I now have an extra day in Japan, I get to use the QR lounge in LHR, flight timings are better for me and I no longer have to position to AMS (money which will now be spent at Sushi Saito ).

It's just mind-boggling. 600€ for LHR-DOH-TYO and back in C with their brand new products, no repositioning, etc. AZ would've canceled each and every ticket.

(When I booked, Y was on all flights within comparable conditions (max 22H travel time; max 1 stop) more expensive).

Skoodledoo that is exactly what https://www.qatarairways.com/en-dk/p...Press-releases says. The airshow opens tomorrow so A7-BED needs to be there in plenty of time.
