Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

A350-1000? but the plane is still in its flight test program... what about the A359s to be delivered soon?

In my opinion makes no sense to have an aircraft delivered now without the new configuration.

First A35K delivery date is currently 17OCT according to Airbus. So add about a year to that.

Hm..maybe i got that wrong. Because he said, as of June 2017 they will retrofit their A650s at a rate of one aircraft per month.

A650-1000? Is that a new type of jet?

Nice video btw. I liked how you covered the EK and EY refreshed Y seats.

Rumours have been kicking around about it, but nothing confirmed. Rumours are that the 350s are so late as they are to be fitted with the Qsuite before delivery. No solid information though.

Got to see and touch the Q suite today. Very, very nice, You have to remind yourself it's a business class product (well, you do if you fly BA a lot ).

If I'm not mistaken this will actually result in a net increase in seats on board compared to the old layout of 42J/293Y?

No. QR has the 77W currently in a 42J/316Y configuration as well. It's a net loss of 4 seats (<2%). Only the 77W with a 3-3-3 configuration in Y have 293 seats in economy.

It's definitely going to increase C seating on the A350. The number of seats will probably be much closer to that of a 2-2-2 configuration. The Qatam A350 have 30 seats in the first section. After the retrofit, the A350 will probably be closer to 42-44 seats in C (over the current 36).

That's fine with me if the Q-Suites are good. It could potentially allow them to keep the current price level (Of course, if the Q-Suite is so much superior and if customers will share that opinion, then I suspect they will be able to charge a premium for the suites).

Interesting. Personally, I've never felt as though QR pricing philosophy has anything to do with factors like this at this point in time. To me, it feels as though they've just been trying to buy market share. At some point, one would expect that approach to end, of course, but for now, it's working just fine for me.

All 77W are now either 42/316 or 24/388 - the introduction of the Q Suite will add (again) a third configuration to the 77W fleet.

42/293 was the config when the 77W were 3-3-3 in Y, now all are 3-4-3.

If I am booking a DOH-LHR leg in full fare J for December - is the most likely rotation to have the Qsuite QR 7? It's a complex ticket so I'd rather not have to reissue it, if possible...

alexwuk welcome to the QR forum.

Until sufficient aircraft are fitted with Qsuites there is no way of knowing if a particular flight will have Qsuites or even what aircraft types will fly it.
A clearer picture should have emerged by the start of the winter timetable at the end of October and even then lack of Qsuite aircraft would usually mean that a route is not flown by that type of Qsuite aircraft every day.

You are gambling with unknown factors and whilst it may pay off the most likely scenario this far in advance is disappointment.
Over the last eighteen months there have been several hundred postings to the effect that "Never book flights based on aircraft type. You may be disappointed" That now holds true for Qsuites.

QR7/8 is the first planned rotation from 07JUN. But as Remdk points out many things could change between now and December, particularly as that is the Winter scheduling season and we are still in Summer.

Having said that though, the refit is planned to be completed by June 2018 on the 77W/77L fleets so by December half the fleet should be retrofitted.

In other news, the 10 77W to be delivered will have the Q Suite fitted before leaving Boeing.

In worse news, when the 77L is reconfiguration starts (date TBC), it will also go to 3-4-3 in Y.
