Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I was speaking with one of the in-flight supervisors yesterday CDG-DOH, who told me that the QSuites are significantly heavier than the previous generation J seats, sometimes limiting the amount of freight which can be loaded. Not sure what to make of this. Strikes me as a bit odd.

Hmm. It's plausible it could be a bit heavier but given the additional seat real estate is mostly plastic I can't see it being that much heavier.. at least not to affect the cargo loading!

I can confirm that definitly! The Q Suites are MUCH heavier than the regular seats; which is also why QR was hesitant to put it in the US flights at the begning--and also why AKL is the last 77L destiantion to recieve it.

Interesting; apart from the product being great, it's another good reason for the 100$ surcharge for a Q-Suites seat compared to a regular QR J seat. Now if only you'd get back your 100 USD for each equipment swap....

Very bizarre... I just checked in for my MUC-DOH flight tomorrow. Aircraft changed from 77W with Q-Suite to a 359 w/o Q-Suite... Hoping that this is just a mistake. I've been collecting data on this flight for the past month and have not seen a change like this. Always been consistent 777s.. Any ideas on what's going on?

QR060 yesterday and today were A359 as well (w/o Qsuite) .....
And NO Qsuite at all on both flights (QR058 / 060) until 1st of July....

Very unacceptable, but at least it isn't the old config 77W. Already went ahead and contacted Qatar Airways Twitter Support. Hoping for some type of compensation for this...

Update: Working with BA Executive Club on this matter. They are willing to swap me on a Qsuite Flight departing from another airport within Europe. However, this is based on award availability... Currently searching around...

It doesn’t seem that this $100 surcharge exist anymore... So no reason for a $100 refund for a swap to a non Qsuite aircraft.

What happened? It's hard enough to find QR availability when it goes on sale, let alone the day before!
