Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

florens thanks for your suggestions. I have already considered just that type of information but at the moment there is no need for it.
The retrofit plan is very uncertain at the moment. The only facts known are that the 34 existing 773s will be retrofitted first. After that it will be the turn of the 13 A350s and the 9 B772s but the order is as yet unknown.
The timing is not right either because retrofitting is expected to start in June.
To start with just one aircraft a month will be retrofitted and then increase to 2-3 per month. Even that plan may not be kept to. There are 19 months June 2017 to December 2018 and more than 56* aircraft to be retrofitted. The aircraft will have to be taken out of service for the retrofit and while many retrofits can be planned to fit with the regular maintenance schedules there will be some which do not fit.
One piece of good news is that all new deliveries are supposed to have the new seats fitted on delivery.
As to the A380s and B787s it has been suggested here that the cabin geometry precludes use of the new seats. And of course it will be impossible to retrofit any narrow bodied aircraft. The A330s andA340s are unlikely to be fitted with the new seats due to their age. So much for 'Fleetwide' installation!
All the above, whilst based on some confirmed facts, is really conjecture and as such not particularly reliable.
* the numbers of aircraft are the number 'in fleet' as of 1st. January 2017 as stated on http://www.qatarairways.com/dk/en/our-fleet.page. There have been several deliveries since then.
When there is factual information available it will be placed in the Wiki.

New deliveries are supposed to be fitted with the new QSuites. We will have to wait and see if they do actually have them.
In expectation of them being fitted with QSuites on delivery then yes they will appear on some A350 flights before the B773 flights.

I wonder if they'll have mattresses on the seats and if so where they would store them. I thought I heard an American blogger mention something about a soft mattress but don't recall seeing any in the videos.
Might try the AKL-DOH direct once the Q suites are fitted.

WorldLux just because the 773s will be the first aircraft in the QR fleet to be retrofitted does not mean that they will be the first operational aircraft to have the new seat. New deliveries are supposed to be delivered with the new seats. Thus there should be a number of A350s with the new seat before retrofitting even starts.

Well according to routes online there's this:
Doha – Tokyo Haneda eff 01JUL17 A350-900XWB replaces 787-8, 1 daily
So I guess this route will have a couple of the brand new A350 on it (currently in TLS doing cabin fit) in rotation with the other routes?
