Just changed my return to QR7 and London (November), called US number, agent didn't give me a hard time at all. All in all, 12 mins as her system was slow.

She couldn't give me seats together as they are blocked, only window seats available. Told me to try in September.

Anyone else with such issue?

You can only book center seats if there are 2+ passengers in the PNR. You also have to call to unblock those seats.

I can't see QR doing anything for those affected.

A major change is 2 hours, but anything less is seen as irrelevant by QR.

A little off-topic: but is there a rule that governs such situations? I know AA has it pretty clearly stated in their conditions of carriage

Except if it reduces the connection time to below the MCT.

Yes, very true - although in this instance, it is actually adding time opposed to cutting it.

Managed to rebook my outbound AMS-DOH-HND to AMS-ARN-DOH-HND, just a bit later departure and avoids overnight in DOH. Routing via CDG would work better, but there was no availability (wonder what booking class they needed though).
Wonder if QMiles and QPoints will be calculated according to new booking class?
Nice service from QR given circumstances!

We are two on the PNR. She said she couldn't do anything

I assume 2+ means more than 2?

For me they opened up after a couple days after booking (we're 2 people).

I am not a QR expert, but it seems changes of more than 2 hours for outbound allow for change of start point by 400 miles.

Close - they allow for a change in start point by 500 miles, but there is nothing (that I've seen) which has the rule written down specifically.

Most agents will allow a change of connecting flights, if the departure time is changed by 2 hours, but it is rare that they will immediately advise that the start-point can be changed.

What's 100 miles between friends?

Thanks msm2000uk and KARFA. I have only rarely came across airlines sending out emails in case of schedule changes, let alone airlines advising to change the flight routing.
I guess time has proven that it always pays of to regularly check flight bookings on checkmytrip or myflights
