Sounds like the "escort" service has disappeared? That's a bit of a shame, used to be great to be ushered through the unwashed masses ).

Mmmm? I suspect its a little randomly delivered. Limited “escort” staff, too many premium pax etc. Reports on the EK forum say they are receiving this service despite prior reports doubting that. YMMV.

Well there were quite a number of staff sitting looking very bored at the Coral desk in the terminal so there was no shortage of potential 'escorts' and no shortage of willing 'clients'. A cost issue most likely.

I flew QR business from HKT a couple of weeks ago. There was a reasonably long queue for security, so asked if there was a fast track at the check in desk and they said no.

On the X-ray machines before check in, you don't have to use the one by your check in zone, you can use a different one and then walk across to the right zone.

polochick welcome to the QR forum. You will find that this forum has a wealth of useful information and tips. A group of forum members are working very hard to improve ease of use of the forum. Using the dashboard is a good way to start looking around.

Update

On arrival at HKT we were first off and at immigration in no time, no queues or backlog, bags off pdq.
On departure this afternoon, we saw a horrendous queue for the pre-departure hall security and hearts sank. There are though 3-4 different entry points, it seems all the taxi drivers direct you to the first one. Go to the 3rd or 4th entry point and we were through in 5 minutes. They are very hot on batteries and "power banks"...

Long lines for check in, we were in J so cut through the Y line as there was no easy way of getting to the J check in else....I'm still removing daggers from my back!
Immigration and further security a breeze - the current Thai temporary lounge is just a cordoned off area and very cramped with spotty wifi.

There was no offer of the Coral Fast Track departure service? Thanks.

No offer of nor no sign of.

tbh, unless I was there over Xmas / New Year, CNY or Songkran, I don't think I'd bother either. Ymmv

Problem is that the speed of departing passport control is so random there - even if its just a “regular” day. I have exited HKT at least 5 times since the new airport opened & the lines have been generally . As you say, YMMV.

Any details on the lounge situation for departures on QR for J pax? If it's still the ridiculous Thai temporary lounge, I will probably use Priority Pass for the Coral lounge since it at least has wine.

Still the temporary Thai lounge as of last week. I wasn't particularly impressed by my experience at Phuket airport with Qatar. There was chaos at check-in and no fast-track escort service. In contrast, my experience with Malaysia Airlines was much better. No queues at check-in, I was escorted through security and MH use the Coral lounge which, as you say, is much better than the Thai lounge. If I were travelling QR, I would try to minimise the amount of time spent at Phuket airport before departure.

Thanks! From what I recall from a few months ago, Coral lounge has a bar, but it's not self-service. Just want to get a few glasses of wine so I can sleep on the 6 hour early evening QR flight.

Don't! It is a god awful place. I kind of liked the temporary lounge setting. Much more comfortable than the Coral Lounge.

You can use a paid express service, which will get you though passport and security (to the lounge) in less than 5 min. It will come with the Coral Lounge but as said, I would skip that. The price is around €30 from memory.

That being said, both on arrival and on departure there were no lines at all so the departure service wasn't even necessary.

Travel dates were early March.

I'll be flying from Doha to Phuket the 7th of April, the landing is planed at 5:45pm, do you think it would worth to pay 1500THB pp for the fast track immigration , does someone has a bad experience with the immigration at this hour of the day ?

i have check flight stats and it seems the peak times is during the nigh with all the companies arriving from China, Russia ...

Thank you for help
