Unofficial Status Match ?

I read on a German Website that QR is offering an unofficial Status Match.

To get match to a Privilege Club Status you need:
1) Register for QRPC
2) Send a photo/copy of your membership card and frequent flyer programme dashboard to [email protected]
3) Book a flight with QR no earlier than in two weeks (any booking class is possible)

Has anyone heard about this?

PS: I am not sure if it's appropriate to post the link of the website where I found the information....

hotwingz as a rule QR do not Status Match.
Status matching by QR is a very rare event that requires very special circumstances indeed to occur. It does occur but very seldom.
I have heard of this web reference before but never seen it documented. Whilst I may be way out of line here I suspect that it is false.
With regard to the appropriateness of the link PM the moderators about it. I am sure that they will advise you.

About a year before QR became part of OW, I applied for, and was given a status match - KL and SA Gold to QR Gold

Yes, they do. However, it is a very discreate status match, managed by the regional offices rather than the main office. One must have very good justifications (i.e. good number of flights, specially in premium cabins, in their routes), and even though, the chances are very slim. It is done case by case. I would not recommend sending an email to the general email address, but rather contacting them via different channels. And just having bought a J trip with them and having status with other airlines will not do the trick.

Agree with the last post. They do match other oneworld carriers. As suggested, email the regional office. Saying that you're top tier with another carrier and you PLAN on flying QR won't do it. Put your money where your mouth is. That will get their attention.

While QR do, like all airlines, offer a Status Match, it is done on a case-by-case basis, and only on rare occasions.

I spoke to someone within QR yesterday, who advised me that if you can prove you have enough flights to earn you Gold/Platinum, QR will status-match in advance.

However, showing you have a couple of upcoming flights, won't do anything.

Just got matched from Iberia Plus Oro to PC Silver. It took around three weeks for them to process the match and involved sending a photo of the card, a print screen of the online statement and PNRs of future bookings with QR (4 itineraries in J).

I am Flying Blue Gold and I was offered a status match with these conditions:

1) Privilege Club membership number.

2) Copy of a valid other airline FFP card with name and FFP number).

3) Other airlines FFP account statement stating name, tier and FFP number.

4) Confirmed and ticketed travel on QR, minimum two weeks prior to departure.

Now, I subsequently met these conditions (having bought a ticket for myself in O class and one for my wife and kid in Q class) and then they said that I had booked in an illegible class (being O, T, W). I am arguing the point that they should have told me that before and if they had then I would have simply swapped the names so that I was in the Q class booking.

However, this seems lost on them. They just say "buy a new ticket" (after 12 days waiting). Not happy about that as it's presumptious...But I have booked another B class ticket so they should be happy with that. Still annoying.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks guys and gals!

Last week experience, sent them EY Gold, AB Gold, TK Gold cards + statements and paid business class tickets (OSL-BKK rt) for two asking for status match.

They matched me to Silver. What a joke.

Interesting reading.

I applied for a status match yesterday evening to QR Gold. Submitted EK statement (currently hold Skywards Gold) and booking reference of J-Class flights (flying Feb '17).

Will let everyone know what the outcome is.

Did you match with a particular local office? Or the HQ in Doha?

Why do you guys bother?
I was EY gold, booked a QR j ticket and was told to fly first ( not first class though).
First (again) you need 150 QR points for silver, then 300 for gold, got it?
